Cheers for all the tips :thumb: I'll have a look in to it and will no doubt have a few more questions to ask soon!

Ok.. Got a question already!

If I was to get new pads.. Am I looking at front and rear, or just front.. Or just rear? I'd say front and rear, but as you all know I've got no idea!!

Front and rear would be best, but depending on budget you could get away with front only.
EBC yellowstuff pads are pretty good value for money  :thumb:

are your brakes properly maintained? they shouldn't be rubbish even on a standard car.

is the fluid ok, do they need bleeding, what state are your pads?

has the car been seviced properly :thumb:

The car is 10 months old and has done 6k miles.. So hasn't been serviced yet, and I wouldn't of thought they'd be in a bad state or need bleeding or replacing yet!!

I've never really liked the feel of the brakes.. Might just be me though

To me the brakes on a A500 feel overservoed with lack of feel. For day to day use they are good enough.

Better brake lines and fluid would firm up the pedal.

One of my previous cars a subaru imprezza turbo used to get brake fade when i used to give it a boot full round the country roads of yorkshire and the brakes would heat up and just get a softish peddle with little bite from the standard brakes. So i thought i would invest in some performance pads. Well let me tell you they were twice the cost of normal pads, i think at the time they were £100 and they were ferredo DS2500. Well i was very sceptical about buying these as i didn't think for a second that these would be twice as good as original pads but how wrong i was!! ;D The bite you get from these pads is amazing and they don't fade away as my standard ones used to. However i never went on a track day so i can't tell you if they got fade round a track, but for every day to day they were the dogs danglys.
\But in saying all this our A500 has fantastic standard brakes although i haven't given it a right cane-ing yet so i will fully reserve judgement till then. Hope any of this helps.

:thumb: thanks!

I think I'll leave them as they are for now.. And then replace the pads at some point in the future!

Cheers to everyone for the advice though  8)
