TMC box fitting / remap - Abarth500
« on: February 03, 2012, 02:22:22 PM »
i havent got one of these but might be a future mod.

i have watched the video on youtube of fitting and just looks like you take too many bits of the car and bit a pain which i dont wanna do myself. Anyone in the Manchester borough area which has it and fitted it themselves or had a trusted garage fitted theirs as wouldnt want any problems.

or has anyone had a custom remap done in this area which is just as good or even better for the car?

aint going  RS Tuning, just rang them and well expensive, it was something like £470 for a remap and they havent done one befor so dont like going to places were they havent done one in the past.

Any other suggestions?

It really is very easy to fit.  Honest.  I'm no mechanic and was a bit concerned, but managed it in under 30 minutes.

Correct me if im wrong but isnt that video the old one, doesnt the new box have fewer leads = les bits to take off?

The only thing you have to get "off" is the battery and the bit that holds it...
Anyone should be able to do that, really.

The rest of the job is change the 2 connectors (not more difficult than plugging a hoover into the mains) and put the battery back in.

Correct video is of the old 3ch kit with battery connections, the new version is much easier to fit, you don't need to remove the air box.

A remap is of course going to be more expensive that just fitting the box, as for the price RStuning quoted Im guessin your getting at least one power run session?!

I have been qouted £399 for a remap and £108 to fit and setup my Forge actuator by AmD Essex but having said that they give a before and after power run on the rollers and reckon spend about 3hrs doing the remap, I assume thats to include the time on the rollers before n after.

TMC offers great value for money interms of pound for pony, but maps offer the abilty to custmise the map for the car and its mods, if there wasnt tuning boxes on the market youd have to look at remaps anyway, at least we have the option :thumb:

ah cool, it was the airbox bit which would have worried me doing. Would the box come with instructions and images?
