Personally Id probally stay away from boost controllers and boost bleed valves not necessarily as they do any damage parr-say but mainly as its easy just to keep winding up the boost until something goes pop.

Whenever you used to read an artical in a car mag about people buying a new turbo car they would wind up the boost and would be great for half an hour until it went bang then they would splash LOADS of money rebuilding the engine into a super Douper street maching, which is all fine if you got the money...

Now turbo timers kinda interest me more, as you can set how long you want to leave the car running after you've been out for a trash, now again me personally I 'Always' leave the car to tick over for at least 30-60secs, during the summer if its somewhere I know either at home/mates/family I open the bonnet to help the engine cool down (more so if Ive been on a motorway run or spent long time in traffic during the summer)

If Ive been on a 'spritted' drive I leave it for longer to just tick over, basically thats all a timer will do.

I think the best quality turbo timers (like alot of things) come from the land of the rising Sun (JDM), wont be the cheapest but normally best quality

I no I was thinking of both. The turbo timer just for a gadget and the boost controller to drive it withough boost around town and then turn it up to standees not turn it up over Wat it should be .

Probably best just using the Sport button, knock it in non-sport for just pottering round town then put it back in sport when your right foot is ready.

Personally I either get a TMC or other tuning box or a propper remap to alter the boost these days not quite sure what the ecu would make of say jumping from 0.8/1.0bar to something like 1.3bar+ and the ecu might just throw a wobbler like a woman whos been bought saucepans for valentines day :D

As Chris said just use the sport button as a boost controller as really that's all it is (but not set by you)

If you do get one and they work get a Apexi AVC-R, they are brilliant, you can choose what boost you want in what gear, plus it has a turbo timer built in. They retail at about £300.

That I spose is right but a turbo timer would be good I've find a few but wiring harnesses are needed if anyone has any ideas would be great .

I never looked into that topic for the 500, but it a Turbo timer is a funny gadget.
Not really useful though, as you could just drive the last minute a little bit slower...

I am not sure how this works in the UK, but in other countries they are strictly forbidden (MOT and insurance wise).

Once the timer is set it cuts the engine after a set time so nobody will be able to drive away in the car. Well they can if they can break into the car, even then it will only be running for about 20 seconds. If they release the hand break or rev the engine over a set rpm it will cut out .....

Had this one fitted to my Punto, they really are a novelty thing. Only really usefull if your rushing everywhere and don't have time to let the turbo cool... You will get a lot of funny looks locking and walking away from your car while its still running  ???
