Yellow fever
« on: January 24, 2012, 05:54:54 PM »
So how about these pricey brakes?

A few old hands on here will know my feelings about the flashing hazards. :banghead:  If someone could consign them to room 101 I'd happily buy them a daily pint from now til Kingdom come.

Those bloody things are the bane of my driving.  As far as I can tell, if my brakes are good enough to provoke blinking misery on just about every trip, why would I want better ones?  I don't have to press very hard on the middle pedal to make them work, and although the feel of them is probably not the best, they're progressive and predictable - at least until the EBA kicks in.  Why would I want that to happen more easily?

On my motorbike, I need all that feel and feedback to avoid a disasterous lock-up on the old one-finger stoppies.  In the car, the hazards really do make me ease off the brakes for a second (to stop the "look at me I'm driving like a twit on public roads" feel), and are more of a danger than a safety feature.  Sod NCAP.

So... How about it?  Sell them to me chaps.

Well mine rarely come on but, when they do, they annoy me and attract negative reactions from pedestrians as you say.

Stupid function.  :thumbd:

Only because they are 8)

But actually, I think the SS brakes are pretty good save for the brake-fade when on track. So no, I won't be investing.  :)

not an essential , more of a gimmick . if the car behind is already going quick enough to be behind you, then the fact that your brake lights are glowing bright as you slow, should be enough to make them drop back. just like in the good old days !
