17" alloy wheel referb?... Kerbed a bit
« on: January 28, 2011, 10:47:02 PM »
I have a 500 abarth, 6 months old and my lass has kerbed a wheel. They are the 17" ones witg like 5 circles in them, dark in the centres with a plastic cap

Having to get it refurbished, but stuck trying to find someone to do it. Its only on the outer edge. I think they are diamond cut or not? I am based in Darlington, noth east

Ps - new to the forums, I'm a BMW driver, but my lass drives the abarth, Honk if you see it about lol!

Hi Martyn,

Soon as I saw "my lass" I thought you must be in my part of the world. Try SEM at Sunderland (0191 548 0617). Longest established in the area. I don't know if they offer a diamond cut service but if they don't, google Prestige Wheels in Derbyshire.

Ill give them a try, cheers

Ps - supprised she managed 6 months without kerbing them, knackered the gear knob after miles, smashed the passenger mirror and drove into a bollard in a car park lol

Hi Martyn,
I'm in Newcastle (used to work in Darlington years ago, just off North Road).

I'm counting the days until my wife kerbs the wheels on her car  :'( so let me know where you end up getting yours done.

I forgot about Pristine. I have a Chrysler myself and they have big issues with wheels corroding. I've had one set on my car under warranty but some people have had two or three sets. I'm pretty sure it was Pristine that Chrysler used to sort out the problem as they are both based in MK.

Hi Chris,

I take it you have a 300C as well then?, we're on set number 4 and the centre beside the wheel nuts are starting to corrode again. Looks like this next set is the last one we'll be able to get out of them though!

I think the deal with Pristine fell through as it was going to cost Chrysler too much.

I need to get my petal alloys repaired too so any info would be welcome!

Cheers

Keith

I use Wheel Repair Centre in Preston. They always do a great job. They recently refurbed my Esseesse wheels. £60 per wheel including repairs and whatever finish you want. They also collect and return the wheels for £25.
Abarth 500 Esseesse, Campovolo Grey, Red Stripes, Mirrors and Checked Roof, Red Leather, Climate Control, Auto Dim Mirror, White Esseesse Wheels (summer), Titanium Esseesse Wheels (winter), White 'Race' Key Cover.

Hi Keith, yes I run a 300C. Only one set of wheels, fitted about 18 months ago. The cars out of warranty now but they're still holding out with only a couple of small areas of corrosion.

I'll be interested to hear how Martyn gets on with his wheels as well.

Chris.

I can confirm this company is really good. I had four Grande Punto 17" alloys powdercoated gloss black for £260 and it was a fantastic finish. Would use them again.
