18K Oil Change
« on: September 07, 2011, 08:31:29 PM »
When I bought my Abarth I was told the Esseesse required an oil change every 6k. Was happy with this as I did the oil myself every 5k in my old Polo GTI and believe regular oil changes are the best thing for an engine. Now when I went down for my 12k service I was told the 6k oil change wasn't required. Either way I still want to get this done at 18k (currently at 15890!). Living in Aberdeen I'd prefer not to have to take the day off work to drive all the way to Edinburgh Abarth for an oil change, is this something that Aberdeen Fiat could do? I have some oil left over and would just need to order another can along with the filter. If I did this myself is it easy to do and would it make the warranty invalid?

Cheers in advance  8)

any oil change that is over and above the warranty requirements can be done by anyone, yourself included

you need to remove the undertray to drain the oil and the filter is best tackled by someone with small hands but its not a difficult diy job :thumb:

yes, having refreshed my 500SS knowledge, so the diy oil change issue is a bit academic really :thumb:

i was thinking of joes extra oil change which of course is not an SS so ok for diy :)

Wish me luck, I'm doing this on Wednesday evening. Hopefully no issues as only have 3 hours to do it in the evening and need the car for work, otherwise will be borrowing my mums horrible Mini  :P

Hi !

Our SS is coming up to 12 months old / 12000 miles.

I'm sure that therefore it will need a 6000 mile oil change, with the next service being the bigger one at 18000 miles. Services based on mileage not time ?

Is this correct ?

I am asking because we are looking to change dealer for the service and wanted to be sure of my facts.

Thanks as ever for your help !

500/C esseesse and 695 Tributo Ferrari versions require an engine oil and oil filter change every 6,000 miles or every 12 months or after every race.

Sorry to correct you Martin but it's 6 months or 6000 miles which ever comes first.

Cheers !

So next service is oil change at 12000 (which happens to be 12 months for us), the one after that at 18,000 is a major one ?

Reading John's post, I'd say either at 12k or in 6 months, what ever is first.
