Abarth500 flat spots orange Engine symbol
« on: January 15, 2012, 03:21:52 PM »
Hiya

Only just got my car yesterday and just started to push it a little and i can really feel flat spots on the car, all the way through the revs it feels like someone is applying the brakes randomly, not smooth at all.

Plus it worried me that the orange engine light icon then flashes on the dash about 5-10 times then stops until i boot it again.

I will ring the dealer tomorrow and hopefully they know what to do.

Please let me know this is something they can easily fix and peops have had this beofr as really worried what have i bought.

Sounds like the traction control kicking in.

what is better for performance, the TTC light on or off? as they seem to feel the same to me.

So you think the TC is kicking in when it shouldnt?

TTC on in the wet. Off at other times. The default mode is off.

I don't know whether the traction control light is coming on when it ought not to be. Unlikely though. It could be you are not yet used to how to control your enthusiasm with the loud pedal.....

Keep playing and enjoy.  ;)

It would help to know at what speed and revs this happens...
If its in the speed range from 0-45 (or so... ) it could very well be the TC -> Less pressure on righter pedal ;D

so only press the TTC button when bad weather, wet roads or ice, otherwise the TTC light should not be on?

The roads at the mo are dry as a bone around here and the TTC button is not lit.

I am only trying to use the car so carnt understand why its doing this, otherwise may as well bought a standard 500?

Plus why is the engine light on the dash flashing? again does this not mean something is wrong?

It my help if you tell us which light it is?

My guess though is that your car is on Pirelli tyres and you have all the enthusiasm of a new owner.....

Most of us would appear to agree that it doesn't sound like there is to much wrong and you should just have fun getting used to the car.  :thumb:

Finally, as to the TTC, leave the TTC button alone for now but my view is only in the wet. That said, once engaged in the wet, if you get it wrong, you are on your own.....

its a orange engine looking symbol top right of the dash, flashes about 5-10 ten times then turns off.

Ok il leave the TTC button alone, so this makes it better to drive as never had a car with anything like this, just esp
