Cloned number plate.
« on: January 21, 2012, 09:56:00 PM »
Hi all, had a bit of a shock this morning when a Penalty Charge Notice came through my door from Enfeild Council. Apparently i done a runner while a traffic warden was trying to ticket me. Now concidering my car was parked 40 miles away on private property at that time and i,ve never been to Enfield, thats a bit of a mystery to me. So i looked at the pictures of "ME" commiting the offence on there website and sure it,s my reg number on the Abarth 500, which was white, mines Grey, the interior was red, mines black, it had no sunroof, mine has and it has no red Abarth side stripe, mine has. Finnally the tax disc was the £125 tax band, mines £165, arn,t all Abarth 500s £165 a yr?
So i informed the old bill, took details but not really interested, then informed the DVLA, they said it was a police thing but if i keep getting the penalty,s they will change my reg. In the meantime i have the agro of proving i,m not at fault and just how long could this s--t go on.
So, some low life s--thead has cloned my number plate.

why dont the police buck there ideas up, if your doing 35 in a 30 theys do you for it... but the wont investigate PROPER crime...

Sorry to hear mate hope you get it sorted soon, if you refuse to pay and it went to court it would get thrown out anyway as your car doesnt match the photos

The traffic warden took pictures, one was of the tax disc, you then get the chance to view them all, that,s how i knew it wasn,t my car!

so just send them the pictures of your car on your drive 40 miles away, point out the differences, sunroof, leather interior and colour of vehicle and say its not your car, its a cloned number plate, not your problem, let them sort it out.

If they continue to send you letters, tell them " this is harassment and you going to complain " normally works  :thumb:

What he said ^^

The fact that there are significant differences between the two should be more than enough to shut them up..

To be honest I never thought this would happen to an Abarth; I'm guessing the car in question was stolen as surely no one who had spent the money on an a500 would risk getting their car crushed?

it does annoy me how councils and gov agencies seem to frighten the willies out of people, make us do all the work to prove our innocence, when really its unto them to sort it out on our behalf, isn't that what we pay our taxes for?

hope  you THEY sort it out for you  :thumb:
