Disconnecting the battery
« on: October 15, 2010, 07:56:02 PM »
Hi

I have a really nooby question, but I'll admit that I've never even gone near a car battery before...

I need to disconnect the battery to reset my Blue&Me as the lady has gone missing and I can't change what I'm listening to or anything.

Problem:  I don't have a clue how to do that.

If there are any nice people on the forum who could tell me how to do it then that'd be awesome.
I've attached a photo of it as well :) to refer to.

Big thank you to anyone who can help 8)

one of your battery terminals has a bolted connection, the other has a quick release mechanism. it looks like a trigger, just flick the trigger and it releases, then lift the connector clear of the terminal for a few seconds.

put connector back on and push the trigger back into place :thumb:

The one with the quick release is the one on the right without the cover on it.

What Lloyd & John said! I had to do mine for the first time a couple of weeks back as my steering wheel controls stopped working with my ipod. I didn't have a clue either so got my dad (who is a mechanic) to sort it! I left mine off for a couple of minutes and all is working again. Just needed to reset the clock once the battery was re-connected. I think I read somewhere on the forum that you should not disconnect the battery for at least 20 minutes after the engine has been switched off - however, I can't find the thread now (sorry!). I left mine for about 30 minutes before disconnecting and all is fine  :thumb:

Left it off for about 10 seconds and it's worked!

The Blue&Me lady is back and I can get some bad boy tunes on again haha. 8)
