For those of you with TomTom:

TomTom Home > Add traffic, voices, etc > Images and icons > Car symbol > p15...

I guarantee take-up.

????????

Sorry, for those of you without TomTom:

Rather than a little blue arrow, you can download for free a little Abarth 500 rear end signifying your position on the map.  :lala:

What's a TomTom?  Does anyone apart from me have a map in the car?

Me! I refuse to buy a satnav! I use a map and my nose, and hardly ever get lost!  :thumb:

You're all a bunch of big-nosed hidebound reactionaries.  I can't think of a single piece of technology that's had a greater contribution to (car) inner peace.  You can't beat a map for a bit of browsing, and it's fine if you've no-one but yourself to blame, but with a wife navigating there's no surer way to ruin the start of a holiday.

I love maps and I love driving aimlessly.  Sat nav is the perfect tool for ending the day well.  Negotiating an alien town centre can become a pleasure and the discovery of hidden gems of roads on "shortest route" unveils views and pubs and the like never imagined.

I love it.

Wife reading the map, ey?  Since I was getting sick in the back of the car I always had to ride in front when we went on holiday.  And my dad taught me how to read a map when I was 8 years old to give him directions on strange roads.  I guess that's why I prefer the map.  I have to stop, look at it and find my way, rather than watching a TomTom or SatNav whilst driving and taking eyes off the road.  They do say that these little devices account for a lot of accidents, don't they?

maps for me!

though, i also need net downloaded directions, cheat notes i have written myself, sat-nav on my mobile phone and someone with a computer on the end of the phone to look at google maps.

...and still get lost!

no sense of direction, sadly
