It pays to be Abarth
« on: September 29, 2010, 08:06:47 AM »
The mrs was driving home from work last night and had somehow turned the bluetooth off on her iPhone. Rather than switch it back on she just decided to make a handsfull call. Blue flashing lights then followed and she was pulled over. She owned up to the fact she shouldn't have been using her phone whilst driving and explained how bad her day had been. The copper then said "is that an abarth" to which she replied "yeah". Then he said " I'm going to let you off this time as you've got a cool car and seem a nice person". I couldn't believe it when she told me!

Nice one!  :thumb:

Been tugged a few times in mine, but never been doing anything wrong, a few cops have commented "nice car" and the like. Would never make a call though unless it was through B&M.

funny I actually got stopped this afternoon!

never saw them, started up rory and sped away until i hit the 40 mph speed limit and eased off. well the noise seemed to attract them, where ever they were sitting and before I knew it, I saw them behind me. I drove nicely for about 3 miles, few lefts and rights, they stayed with me, THEn blue lights.

I was actually more annoyed cos it was raining, than not having broken the law.

I was asked if i was in a hurry sir, and I replied No officer but then you have been behind me for 3 miles and you can tell I wasn't speeding or anything silly. He then said I accelerated off quickly from a standstill point, I replied I wasn't aware that was breaking any laws. The guy was then looking round the car, trying to find something, I got out at this point, I asked him if there was a problem, to which he replied " no problem sir, just never seen a fiat like this before"  :o

and with a grin on my face I replied " well officer, it you want to make detective then you will notice it says ABARTH " his partner just laughed, he then noticed and laughed, and we actually stood there for a few more mins chatting about the car, and they mentioned that coz of the monza was the only reason I caught their attention

Been tugged a few times in mine...

Sigh, been years since anything like that has happened to me! Marriage, pah.

 ;D ;D
As Keith Richards tells it, Jones came up with the name "The Rollin' Stones" (later with the 'g') while on the phone with a venue owner. "The voice on the other end of the line obviously said, 'What are you called?' Panic. The Best of Muddy Waters album was lying on the floor—and track one was 'Rollin' Stone Blues'".

Haha! Oops  ;)

I mentioned about last week, the rozzers were on my tail for 5 miles too. Never stopped me, just followed, weird.
