Kit Abarth 695 Brembo Koni and Kit Abarth Brembo
« on: October 25, 2011, 11:48:12 AM »
Abarth has launched two new elaboration kits for the Abarth 500.

The first, the Kit Abarth 695 Brembo Koni, includes the contents of the Kit esseesse Koni, but adds two features taken from the Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari.  The kit includes four alloy wheels which mirror the design used on the Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari, but are finished in a unique Matt Black colour, and supplied with 205/40 ZR17 tyres.  The kit also includes Brembo Monobloc front callipers, matched with fully-floating front discs, which are both self-ventilating and cross-drilled to ensure maximum efficiency even under the most demanding conditions.

The Kit Abarth 695 Brembo Koni is available to order now with a retail price including fitting* of £4,650.

The second kit, the Kit Abarth Brembo, is designed to complement the Kit esseesse Koni.  This kit includes the same Brembo Monobloc front callipers and fully-floating, self-ventilating and cross-drilled front brake discs as the Kit Abarth 695 Brembo Koni.

This kit must be fitted with either the Kit esseesse Koni, or the standard esseesse kit in conjunction with the Koni suspension upgrade.

The retail price for the Kit Abarth Brembo is £2,020 including fitting*.

The official blurb does not specify dealer fit only but as the car that they are to be fitted to must have Koni suspension you would suspect that they are.

Why must you have the koni's fitted?  Is this not a bit crafty?

So, since the Kit Abarth 695 Brembo Koni includes the 160bhp ECU upgrade, is this kit limited to cars <12 months old or with <12k miles?

Also, to confirm, one can't buy the Abarth Brembo kit unless you have Konis already fitted or have them fitted with the brake kit?

Safety and stability I’d imagine, no doubt a stock motor has a fair amount of dive under braking leaving the arse wiggling in the air and more prone to switch around, the spring damper combo will lower CoG and no doubt stiffer spring will cut out the nose dive.

Think John might of said as much to me the other day, I’d imagine they fit it if you had an equivalent kit.

The rational was explained using this photo.

If the car nose dives like this with stock brakes and stock shocks then the Brembos would lift the rear wheels off the ground.

Rough pricings? (I accept they will differ due to fitting)  ???

I know they are cross drilled but the disks dont look any bigger in diameter than those on the esseesse.

How does the cross drilled make them better?

the break kit on its own which i would have to go for as im already esseessed, seems very expensive

Im going to have some koni's fitted in the new year but this isnt tempting me to go for a koni/brembo combo,

Official pricing which will vary due to labour rates is:
£4650 for the full kit
£2020 for the brake upgrade on it's own.

Fully floating disc design is a major positive when it comes to brakes. :thumb:

I'm not going to try and justify the price although they are slightly cheaper than I've seen some kits being sold for online.
Anyone that has driven a 695 or an Evo Esse Esse will tell you that those brakes are fantastic.

I figured as much, hence I didn't comment earlier...

Shame really as I'd probably have had one of those brake kits. Been keeping an eye out for it since this post, as I liked the prospect of yellow calipers. Also would have been nice to have the official kit, despite being able to source the same Brembo kit cheaper elsewhere (albeit with red calipers, not yellow).
