Monza
« on: December 21, 2011, 09:21:38 PM »
Hi there, we're new here. Picking up new 500 with Monza on Friday  ;D. Dealer is asking whether we want the valve on spring or left open. They recommend it's left open. Any independant advice will be much appreciated.

Open so it won't rust shut like mine did. That's probably the reason they asked you.  ;)

Picked up my 2010 60 plate esseesse 3days ago (with Monza). How do I check the spring is fitted or not?
if I remove it is it easily refitted if I prefer it retro?

Loving the car.

Take a look at the picture, the spring is visible from under the car
My spring is shown with flap rusted open (coils of spring not touching)

I tried removing my spring once but the internal flap made a horrid rattle  :-\

Photo was taken at around 10 months after monza was fitted  :o
will mine last another 10 months?  :'(

They laugh at us because we are different, We pity them because they are all the same.

Prior to installation of mine in October i lubed up the mechanism, i haven't dared look underneath because i might get a nasty shock.

Gave my car a well deserved wash today and thought I better check my exhaust was still in one piece... All looked good but seems the valve was well and truly stuck, after a bit of WD40 and a lot of effort I've managed to free it up again, although managed to pull the spring off in the process, any way I just want to double check - when you laying under the back of the car, as you reach up to the valve if you push it forwards to the front of the car is this opening the valve and as you pull it back to the rear of the car closing again as I'm thinking of just keeping it open...... Hope this makes sense!
Thanks
