Rear seat removal.
« on: October 09, 2010, 07:14:29 PM »
Just done this so I can transport some wheels without wrecking the leather. They're not going back in! I can't believe how heavy the seat backs are! The car now brakes so much quicker, plus, with the polystyrene thing out the wheel well too, it now sounds like an Assetto Corse from inside! The exhaust sounds fantastic! I say you sack off X-Factor, go outside in the dark, remove your seats and go for a blast (Especially if you have a monza exhuast - I dread to think what that would sound like) !!  ;D

You can fit the wheels in fine if you just fold the seats down Joe!  ::)

As for the noise, I've noticed how much noisier it is with them folded down. Gets very annoying after a while! If you want to hear your exhaust properly, open the boot and drive along, it sounds awesome  :thumb:

Stripping can be an addictive thing, I started with just the rear seats on my Saxo VTS 16v, then the liner came out...

Then the rear carpet and a few other bits came out...

Then door cards and passager seat came out lol

The noise from the exhaust was addicative, plus its a great, free mod that makes a different. Power-to-weight ratio will always improve handling, performance, mpg.

Funny, when we do that to a car it instantly becomes worthless, when Ferrari do it, they charge extra!  ???

I haven't even looked.

Is it easy to remove the back seats without damaging anything?

Track day soon, might whip them out for that  :thumb:

It took me ten minutes and three swear words. Easy enough. I'll take some pics later  :thumb:

Half a dozen star bolts normally I used to be able to remove and refit my rear seats in my VTS in about 10mins or so, honestly its so simple.

Rear seats out - Harnesses in - Job done!

haha, Porsche and BMW are also known for charging extra while removing equipment from your car.
I was laughing at the open bootlid idea. After all, it would look very close to the original Abarth 500s and 600s!

I know this sounds daft, but last night, i was driving along the beach,  i opened both doors (looked like an Abarth plane!) and the noise from the exhaust bounces back off the inside of the door and into the cabin! Sounds sweet, try it, boot and doors open, just make sure you're on a beach or in a field etc.
