I polished my car today and noticed scratches down the left hand side and rear of the car. Not sure whether that's me driving into a hedge avoiding a van on a country lane, or whether (like the weird marks on the C pillars) it's something caused by the bodyshop who buggered up re-sprayed my tailgate. After cleaning and polishing today, it looks stunning, apart from the 10% that looks f*cking awful. I'm annoyed. I've taken a lot of care over the paintwork on my car, especially with it being black. I've avoided swirl marks and it looks like it just came out of the showroom, apart from certain areas that really let it down. The areas around the tailgate that I suspect have been caused by the bodyshop are rough to the touch, even after polishing. It looks dull compared to the rest of the paint work. I also fear the bodyshop attempted to clean my entire car with wirewool, and there are some swirl marks in the paint, which I had avoided up until now. I'm so annoyed, and not really sure what to do. I understand the disadvantages of black cars, and realise the difficulty in keeping them clean, but my paint work is a bit of a mess. Help!!

Joe, are you looking at taking the car back to the body shop and asking them what they think of the marks?

I take it that the marks are too deep to polish out? Maybe a pro valleter could 'correct' the paintwork.

Let's have a look at it on Sunday.

I also find this quite annoying too Joe, I've kind of learnt to accept it though, and it only really shows up in strong sunlight (so not that often really!) However it would be hard to prove that the scratches were caused by the garage. As for the paintwork, it's never going to be factory finish after a respray, I'm guessing the whole panel was painted? Otherwise you would end up with a patchy job like i had before it was corrected. Have you thought about asking Bauer Millets? Me and Sikersh I'm sure will agree that they do a good job with bodywork, they might be able to help you.

Same thing with our bonnet after being repaired at Westover. I rejected it first time based on panel gaps and difference in colour between panels. I can only guess, but it seems they only partially sprayed the bonnet and attempted to 'blend' the paintwork on the bonnet and so leaving it looking like it's had 5 years of washes - looks really bad under artificial light.

Decided I couldn't be bothered with sending it back again, but when I came to change it, I'll be going back to Westover for a good PX based on the great repair their bodyshop has done  Thumb Up
