Silly question about the 500 Launch Edition
« on: March 03, 2009, 09:06:46 PM »
Hi All,

Does the launch edition come with any cost saving over speccing a 500 up to exactly the same spec, or do you have to pay a little extra to get an early edition of the 500 abarth?

Its exactly the same as if you specced one from the factory, the bonus is that you get it a lot earlier :thumb:

exactly the same as adding them on yourself - just a pre-set spec (although i was given a choice of wheels!)
Collected my A500 on Wednesday 4th March '09.

I was lucky, my dealer didn't realise the anti-dazzle mirror was part of the LE spec.  Never charged me for it! That was his excuse for not giving me a full tank of fuel.  Buggar! Still, £100 worth of mirror isn't a bad freebie!

So how does an anti dazzle mirror actually work?

It has a photometer built into the mirror that detects the amount of light coming from behind and uses magic and pixie dust* to darken the mirror. Some work well, some are rubbish. GTI v 159. Decided against paying extra for it due to the 159's poor performance. not sure how well the 500's works.

Remind me to let you know when I get mine. :thumb: I have one in the Merc that works well so I have some sort of a baseline.

I am very impressed with the mirror in the 500, seems to work very well. Had someone behind me for quiet a while with full beam on, I didn't even realise it was my girlfriend in the passenger seat that noticed. He then dipped his lights and the mirror adjusted to that. Stops glare without me even noticing!!!
