Touch up paint
« on: May 18, 2009, 08:45:52 PM »
Who's bought some touch up paint for the inevitable stone ships?

I bought some today, cost 8:25 plus vat. (no stone chips yet)
Also bought 2 pints of the recommended Selenia oil, total cost 23:00 plus vat

Don't take long to spend 35.49 does it?

I bought a Funk White touch up and took it back to the dealer because the paint was so watery it doesn't cover anthying but looks almost clear when applied. They ordered a replacement which turned out to be worse. Don't waste your money on an official Fiat kit for this colour is my strong advice. The problem is that Funk white is a three layer paint and the touch up stick sold by Fiat only contains what is effectively the second layer. I ordered a touch up kit from paints4u.com which come as a three stage kit - basecoat, top coat and laquer. It's much better but it's impossible to get anything resembling a decent match on the car using it. Funk white owners you have been warned  ;)

Any update on this?
I've got one little chip on the A pillar and am considering buying some touch up paint.
Thing is it's so small, only I notice it when I'm in detailing mode. Even a standard white would do it.
If the Funk white touch up paint's been sorted, I'd invest for future use.

i agree with the funk white colour match problem, i reversed into a pallet of steel at work it caught just above the exhaust on the near side scraping the paint away in a couple of small areas down 2 the plastic of the bumper. Got a mate who works at 1 of these smart care places doing scuffs, stone chips etc 2 fix this repair he aint done a bad job if you didn`t know u wouldn`t , but i do and u can see its not a match .
funk white a500, 5 petal alloys, red chequed roof, red leather, red scorpion on bonnet .

Bossa Nova White is 268/A, Abarth 500 its called Bossa Nova White, but it is a generic Fiat group colour and your local paint shop will know it as 268/A Bianco Bianco.

I know this as I just ordered a can, no damage to car, but I sometimes temporarily fit an aerial on the car, and I decided to strip/spray up the mounting bracket to make it more discreet on the boot hatch than the black colour it came in. Cost me about £9something +VAT for 400ml can from local auto factors.
