I missed that too...

Not impressed with your service really.  Good luck with the moaning.  Can't believe they tell you it's undrivable and then let you drive it - I think I'd have been stamping my feet for a hire car if they didn't have a courtesy car for a warranty/safety issue.

Instead of using the 4 pre-formed number plate holes done in the factory, they actually drilled 2 extra holes and screwed it on with rusty screws!!?? I noticed this when replacing my number plates. There was rust all over each hole  Angry So I'm demanding a new tailgate. It may not properly rust at all in the future, but its the principle of the matter, it could have damaged wiring and hosing inside the tailgate...I was even more annoyed when I noticed every car I saw there on Saturday had there number plates done properly!!!

I've got an BNW Abarth 500 demo/courtesy car now and I'm insisting they exchange my car for this....I'll have to wait and see what happens.

Hmm, bit concerning this as my A500 has been ordered from Autoworld (they were pretty good with the gf's old Swift) - I'll have to check the way the plates have been fitted before I drive it away. I hope they get it sorted for you Si.

I hope you get somewhere with this Simon.  Customer care should be paramount to all businesses these days, and it's ridiculous that extra holes have been drilled unnecessarily.  You're totally right to complain about this.  Stick to your guns mate.

Well, Jon at Autoworld obviously doesnt come onto the forum much if at all. You would have thought they may be a bit more proactive if he knew his dealership were getting a bit of a bashing wouldnt you!  Bat

Autoworld fitted the plates to my GPA with two screws.

Plates are straight, otherwise I would have been p*ssed off.

Mine are straight, but I would have prefered them to be 'wobbly' instead of them 'drilling' into my tailgate causing damage to my paintwork and maybe even damaging wires/hoses inside the tailgate.

Let me get this straight, can you see the holes from the outside? Am I missing something here?

Yep, once the number plate is removed there are two drilled holes in the centre of the x4 pre-formed holes done by the factory. There are marks/scratches around each hole from the drill head as well.

So you can only see the holes from the outside when the plate is off.
If you cant see them when the plate is on then whats the major issue, I dont disagree that it is fundamently wrong to have drilled into the tailgate, why did they do this have they explained why?

Yep, you can see the holes when the plate is off. Major issue is that they used a power drill to drill x2 holes into my tailgate and screwed rusty screws into it  Thumb Down Which could lead to rust later on in the cars life. They never explained, but every other Abarth's number plates I saw on Saturday at Autoworld had been put on correctly. When you pay £14k for something you expect simple things like number plates to be put on right, its not some cheap old banger.

To be fair, the fact that Autoworld drilled the extra holes isn't going to make a deal of difference to the GPA as the plate is screwed into genuine plastic.

I hate wobbly number plates, and especially corroded plates. They only cost a few quid and just tidy up the car.

Have we ever had a horror story about John501?

If so, I haven't seen one. Obviously the exception that proves the rule. Cry
