APE Tuning Questions
« on: March 14, 2011, 01:20:39 PM »
Hi Everyone,

With any luck I will have an APE within the next 2 weeks. Bought it purely with the intention to tune so I have a few questions as info seems to be thin on the ground.

In the old AGP SS they swapped the turbo, does anyone know if the APE already has the uprated turbo and if not what the bhp limit is on the OE turbo?

I realise that the multi-air engine is very different from the old T-Jet so most parts will need to be redeveloped for the APE (can be an advantage, getting discounts as a dev car ect). Does anyone know if the APE runs the same suspension as the AGP? Looking to get some coilovers however springs will do for a short while, any suggestions would be great?

First step seems to be the TMC box, with this fitted can you still flick between normal and sport mode?

It worries me a bit that you cannot put an APE on a RR, has anyone found a way around this yet?

Does anyone know how far you can take the standard internals?

Realistically I would be looking to do the following:

Remap
IK
BOV
Bigger FMIC (Mist spray seams a good option)
Uprated Actuator
Fuel pump & Injectors
More efficient down pipe and straight through system
Potentially Hybrid turbo if engine internals could take it.

Sorry lastly, what’s the max boost people are running atm?

My ultimate goal would be to have it running in the region of 220-230bhp  :)

These guys have a fair bit of kit and have taken the car upto 250bhp

Although there pricelist only shows the 220bhp kit

I just wish I could speak German so I could give them a ring and hav ea chat about some of the stuff for my APE.

Top stuff, will be getting the german guy in my office to do a bit of translation :)

Failing that can awalys give them a call and start with that classic line: "Sprecken ze English?" If they reply in German then hang up and pretend it never happened  :P

APE has the uprated Garrett as standard so your goal of 220~230 should be pretty easy to get to, Lloyd's AGP SS with TMC hit 217bhp iirc

My EVO is running around 190 ish with tmc, so a remap and TMC would get get you well above 200 and with turbo back exhaust
a little more perhaps. ;D

Why would you need a TMC box and a remap?

I'm pretty confident Roland at GTT could acheive 220+ with the TMC box and his other mods.

If the APE has the same turbo as the AGP SS why wouldn't the power be the same for both cars after the addiiton of a TMC box? What is restricting it?

Also, what other mods would be needed to get 220ish and what cost are we looking at??

I could be wrong bit in a agp ss they change the exhaust that could be less restrictive.

Also the ecu programme are probally diffrent.

280bhp would be nice 100bhp per litre.

Stupid question time, what does ik stand for???

IK = Induction Kit  ;)

It should take little to get an APE  with TMC ruining the same power as a AGP SS with TMC.
Will be very dissapointing if the APE SS is only 180bhp.

Have put a TMC on my APE and so far the results are good! Massive improvement in torque, feels seriously quick now.
