APE Servicing costs
« on: February 03, 2012, 12:25:14 PM »
Hey everyone,

My APE is due a service soon (So I think?) 9months and 9k miles later since the first service (Done at 4k) so should be due again on 13000 miles?

My first question is, I've seen alot of things about the intervals on the APE and i wondered if someone could cleare this up and confirm whether I am right in thinking this.

My second question is, Is it really going to cost me just shy of £400 for the 2nd service?! I remeber speaking to both an Abarth dealer and my local Fiat dealer and they both quoted around this price?! If thats the case i'd rather save my self £150 and take it to an indipent dealer. Shame it's still in warrenty or i would have done it myself! Just wondering what other people have done.

I'm really hoping it's not going to cost that much - It was only 220 to service my Volvo and the parents TT was only 250 i think it was!!

Thanks a lot

You need an oil change at 9k (not a service) then the  service at 18k.
I have just booked mine in for the 18k service and its £280 (depends were you go).
SS is different.

1st service is at 18k, I need to book this shortly I'm sure I will  :'(

Only an oil change is required after 9k, a number of Abarth dealers charge a lot for this, some charge less, you can get it done independently with OE parts at VAT registered garage, I did this for one oil change at ~ £70.

Think I paid £130 for my 9k at Vospers, which was oil service and perhaps filters, don't recall, Bristol were quoting my ~180  ::) far too much IMO for either considering our SLK350 cost that much for an oil service and it takes 9 litres of oil vs ~3 in the Abarth.

Thanks loads for the replies everyone.

I spoke with a dealer and they advised that the intervals are 2 years or 18k miles however, they recommend oil every year or 9k miles. They quoted me around £350 for the 18k service - I'm not sure whether this is what everyone else is paying though.

Thanks 3k5k, i'd be more than happy to pay 280 for the service, could you confirm where this was?

Thanks

This is the inportant bit.

Summary

The vehicle must be serviced every 18,000 miles.

However, if the mileage travelled in the last 12 months was less than 6,000 miles, an engine oil and filter change must be carried out.

If the mileage travelled in each year is more than 6,000 miles but not enough to reach 18,000 miles in 24 months, an engine oil and filter change must be carried out after 24 months.

See separate guide for esseesse versions.

not to make anyone jealous or anything...but i got 3 years servicing for £500 from my local dealership "donnelly abarth"  :) they listed me the normal costs of the services individually and it was pretty much £1000 for 3 years overall.

Depending on your annual mileage, that could prove to be expensive. What if you only covered 5k miles per year? You'd be out of pocket. Servicing is dependant on mileage, not time. So... "they listed me the normal costs of the services individually and it was pretty much £1000 for 3 years overall" would only really apply if you covered 36k in that 3 year period.

If you plan on doing a lot of mielage, then you've potentially done well.

It's based on time and/or mileage. The car must have oil/filter change every 12 months regardless of mileage.

Hi All

I am due to have my 24 month service at the end of August. I will hane done less than 9K in 2 years! (i know - but is not the main car)

I had an Oil and filter change last yr which cost me approx £80 From Bauer Millett. From reading this post can i assume that i only need the same again then this year? I should have done approx 8400 mile by end of Aug or will it be a full 9k service?

Thanks Remy

Quite right Martin forgot that. Take the chance to get some racing fluid in.
