Hi (me back again!  :D),

I updated my 3GS to IOS4 and found the following issues so far:-

1) The BluTooth associations were unstable so deleted them all and re-created them and now all okay.

2) The email default SMTP server got re-arranged to another one I had listed so had to set it back again and now okay.

3) I have the B&M dongle to play music through the stereo. I found that initialy this would only work for around 4-5 seconds and then cut back to the radio. I unplugged the unit, reset the iPhone and switched car off and started again and all seemed to work okay for half a day and now the problem has come back again!  ???

The third item above is still an issue so if anyone knows a solution I'd be very interested!  :(

That's interesting. Did you change any settings between it working after you reset and it stopping working again?

No I didn't change any settings. However the reset I performed was actually switching Off properly. I shall try a 'proper' reset now and try again as I have seen in earlier posts that this has been successful.

Yep it worked.

I performed a Rest All (Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset All Settings) and it now seems to hold a connection with the B&M dongle! :thumb:

PITA that it needs this though as you have to change a load of settings back again to how 'one' had the iPhone setup. Worth it though.

Just glad it was that easy (hopefully). Had visions of being stuck without it for weeks with wall to wall radio world cup coverage.

After upgrading to OS4, my iPhone would also not play music more than 5 secs before cutting back to the radio. Instead of doing a full iphone reset, I reset network settings only through the general tab - settings - reset - reset network.

This solved the problem (well, to date) and have managed to keep my other details on my iphone intact.

Hope that helps.

Sounds like a better option than a full reset. I am still finding things that resetting mine stuffed up :(

paula, if you iphone isw backed up through itunes, then just click to reset through itunes, then once reset set it up as a new phone and then restore from last back up, sometimes this way round works better than reseting the phone and restoring from backup works better.

a soft reset of holding down the power button and home buttom and keeping holding until the screen goes back and you see the white apple logo normally closes everything out and puts the phone back to normal.

aslong as you keep your phone backed up then really you shouldn't lose anything.

I have a mac and mobileme, so everything syncs apart from music and apps, so I still plug it into the mac every week for a sync and backup.

It's pretty much sorted now - basically it was a case of getting blue and me working again as the radio football/inane chatter was doing my head in :) I suspect restoring the settings from iTunes would just have brought the problem back.

It would be useful to know which setting it was that iOS4 changes that messes up Blue and Me so that people could just change that one - sounds like it's something in network settings.

Mine worked fine without any fiddling - both when I upgraded my 3GS to iOS4 and then when I got an iPhone4 a few days later.

I must be the lucky one!

newtork is only for 3G, data, location etc etc.. I think it would be the bluetooth part. Unpairing and repairing could be the answer, I just tap the blue&me under bluetooth and it connects, most of the time it does it automatically. Also I found when driving to goodwood, where along alot of the country roads and signal was bad, it totally dropped off and wouldn't connect, but that was due to no signal from the phone.

the tomtom handsfree kit has a boosted 3G device within it, so you may get a better signal, but not sure its worth the £100 just for the handsfree kit  :o

Unlikely to be the Bluetooth as the problem was when the player was connected via the USB cable. To repeat the music started when connected and then stopped after a few seconds. This was cured by a full settings reset but shakman fixed it with just a network settings reset. Not everyone had the problem as evidenced By simer's post above.

Sadly Simer has now run into the 5 seconds of music then disconnect. I knew I spoke to soon. I'll try network reset. Fingers crossed.
