iPhone 4 & Spotify

Hi all,

I got my iPhone b&m adaptor today and I'm unfortunately having a few issues. Quick question, can you use Spotify through the adapter because it only plays when I click the windows button on the steering wheel but the radio says 'voice' and after a while the music cuts out. I can only assume that clicking that button is wrong.

Think I read that to play Spotify, you need to connect via a headphone jack. Is that right? If so, the adaptor is a waste of time for me then.

Hi,

I "believe" that once you have connected your iPhone up you need to  open Spotify then press play on a track. I also believe you can not control Spotify from the steering wheel. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks K3mpik, doesn't seem to work. It's an iPhone 4 but the previous owner upgraded to the latest version.

Hey man,

I dont think your done yet.. I have an iPhone 4 with latest version.  Quick question does you iphone have any music installed on it?

No it doesn't have any music in iTunes library. But I want to use Spotify anyway.

Hi,

Thats the trick though mate, go create an empty .mp3 file like 1 second long. Import it in to the iphone, this triggers the blue&me and then click the home button on the iPhone and open Spotify then click a track. I swear to you this is how I got mine working, like I said just editing my video the now then will upload..

Ok, to much comotion in the house to get the video done:

Requirments
  • iPhone 4 with the latest Firmware + No Music Library on the phone library itself
  • USB iPhone Cable (Blue&Me adapter should work the same).
  • Spotify Install on iPhone with music.

I assume you do not have any music on the iPhone Library as like me you only want to use Spotify.

1. Create 1 second long blank Audio or use my one http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11265181/Spotify.mp3
2. Import Audio File to the iPhone.
3. Start up the car, power on the car radio.
4. Connect the iPhone to the car using the USB.
5. The iPhone should engage with the car and play the blank file you imported to the iPhone's Library..
6. On the iPhone Click Spotify.
7. Choose your track from within Spotify.
8. Enjoy the tunes.

Note.. You can not change track using the steering wheel, you can increase/decrease the volume from the steering wheel.

Will try it later with iPod touch and Android device..

Excellent thanks for the detailed reply. Just updating the software on my iPhone now. I can't seem to download the mp3 though. Are you able to upload a different version, also it seems about 10secs long.
