Mac configured iphones and ipods
« on: October 06, 2010, 02:21:31 PM »
Apologies if I have missed this elsewhere but can Blue & Me connect to a Mac configured device? If so does it have to be the latest version Blue & Me 5.5? I believe Mac can read iphones and ipods configured for PC so a reconfig would be one way around it if Blue & Me can't. Any advise/experiences gratefully accepted.

It has always been the norm that your i-pod has to be formatted into windows format to run through B&M but maybe with 5.5 its different.

If your car was built after July of this year then it should have 5.5 as standard.

Ok here is the thing.

If its an early generation like iPod 1-5 (5 being "iPod with Video") the B&M sometimes reads the disk via USB directly, which means it may have to be Winblows formatted. If its a touch, iPhone, or something built recently, it uses a protocol to talk to the iPod/iPhone and so the format on the devices disk makes no difference at all.

At least that's how I understand it.

Interesting, but either way my iPhone syncs with Mac and iPod syncs to PC and neither work with B&M with or without the adapter  ::)

For what it's worth.... I'm using Mac configured iphone and ipod touch on 5.5 with no problems at all. It will only take two minutes to install 5.5 if you haven't got it.

I have an old style ipod but that makes the system throw a wobbler! One small point though. If, without thinking, you disconnect the ipod/phone with the ignition still on it will apparently 'wipe' the update off and it has to be reinstalled.

Cheers
