Is it just for music? Cheaper and easier to get a memory stick

Unless you download your music from iTunes (m4a files) then yes, USB stick is the easiest way.

I believe the USB stick has to be formatted in FAT32.

Also, the more tunes you have on it, the more time it will take to index...

The limit that the car will index is only 4GB though isn't it?

Dealer recommends 2GB apparently  ???

On another forum others have used 2.5 laptop drives with external power, so to be honest I have no idea what the limit is...

Only problem is it wants to create a library and that might take a while with 160gb drive.

I think they say the limit is 32GB as this was the limit windows xp could format in FAT? 3rd party software tho you can format as much as you like...

: Bottom line just stick with a 8GB memory stick and you will be fine  :thumb:

IF it helps you and
IF you don't have an Ipod already

My Ipod classic has 70GB of music on it and I have NO problems accessing any of the music, all through the steering wheel controls :thumb:

I mostly use my iPhone, but I've had really good use from an old shuffle that Chris was given at a conference if you want to use itunes but keep the price down. It's tiny and I just slap a playlist on it and go - the new ones can use multiple playlists.
