I think I am a minority when I say my HTC Desire is a bit flaky, but it is. Connection does drop sometimes. Flip side is that it is a brilliant phone.
Red A500 SS, Monza exhaust, black leather, white mirrors, Koni FSDs. Not sure what happens under the bonnet but the car still keeps me smiling......must avoid the technical engine-type posts...

I bought the Galaxy S on sunday and had to return it yesterday with bluetooth problems (kept losing my car details) and also email connection problems but it was a beuatiful phone and easy to use if a bit big. The O2 shop said the only other choice was Iphone 4 or HTC Desire, since I Phone was £170 more and from reading reviews has its fair share of bugs I went for the Desire. It seems so far very good although a little more complex to operate than Iphone or Samsung, it feels well built and solid and has more features on it than i'll ever use, alot of reviews knocked the Samsung for having no camera flash but the HTC does have one. If you read reviews on the net many give Samsung 4*, Iphone 4 4-4.5* and HTC Desire 4.5-5*. THe main downfall with all of them is rubbish battery life when using apps or net. Ive only had the HTC a day but can now navigate around most of it and all in all it seems a great phone.

BTW I bought it in the O2 shop with a £10 PAYG card for £329 which was drastically cheaper than CPW who were looking £499 for Galaxy or HTC! ???

I've got the hTC and it is a lovely phone and I've had no problems connecting to B&M on my GPA. That said I don't use the text reader (don't use texts much).

I found the phone really easy to use and have downloaded some great apps, mostly free ones. The app market place is a bit rubbish but you soon get used to it.

I've used the built-in sat nav in the car successfully although it doesn't give all the info that I get on my Garmin.

I used the sat nav in walking mode with street pics last Saturday night to find my way round an area I'd never visited before. Useful but ate the battery.

The Kindle app from Amazon is good but don't download Angry Birds unless you want to spend too much time on a game. Completely addictive. Still only in beta but I was determined to get 3 stars for every level. Can't wait for the full version to come out, although Halo Reach is taking up my time now.

Battery life is average for this type of phone. Reckon on charging daily. I keep mine topped up via the usb on my work computer.

Highly recommended, but I'd buy it from T-Mobile or Vodafone so that you can get the Android 2.2 (Froyo) update. Or just buy it sim-free.

My HTC's motherboard is cooked.  Off back to HTC for a new one.  2 weeks and counting now and they still haven't started fixing it.

Seems to be a problem on some batch and not others, after the 2.2 update mine started getting extremely hot and the screen freezing.  Had no probs connecting it to B&M tho.

Ask Sam for help. She seems to know what to do with the phone. :thumb:

I have to say after using this phone (HTC Desire) for my first weekend while at the track day at Seighford its a great phone and can do anything you need however the battery life is shockingly bad beyond words, I fully charged it through the night, got up at 7am to go to the track, barely used it all day apart from a few texts and by 4pm the battery was on its last legs, by 5.30 on the way home it totally died and switched off, surely it should last longer than that? I think i've got a duff battery :-[

The battery life will improve after a few charges but not by much.

The battery life will always be an issue until new cell technologies come on stream.

The new generation of dual and quad core mobile processors won't help battery life either.

Iphone 4 is the way forward mate. Battery live is far superior to the samsung and a far better phone all round too. Trust me you would not be dissapointed. ;D

Aside from battery life this phone is superb though, internet is super fast and supports flash. Signal is good which I phone had issues with plus I hate the whole I tunes thing for loading stuff on or off the phone and I can Bluetooth items from this phone to other phones or pc. I honestly think this battery is faulty. I was talking to Alex at the track and he has the same phone as me and his battery was in much better condition than mine at 4pm having been charged overnight and he was using his phone more than me. I'll go to o2 shop and see if they can replace the battery. Aside from that the phone is fantastic.

One thing I've found with my desire is that if the internet is left on it uses more battery. I've placed a widget on the home screen and only turn it on when I need it. Takes about 2 seconds to connect, then just switch it off when not needed. My Phone then last a couple of days no problem. Hope that helps.

Can you tell me how to do that? ??? I've only just got mine and found that the internet does stay on sometimes, the Galaxy S had an icon that showed open programs and allowed you to close them all from one button. O2 replaced my battery today so hopefully that will sort it, the battery was only lasting 5-6 hours on full charge.

If you turn off internet though does that not mean you won't receive emails?
