So I plugged in my iPad...

.....and got an accessory not recognised error. Would've been nice if it had at least charged it. Cigarette lighter charger I guess. Seventy quid for the iPhone dongle I don't know!

It's only designed so far for Ipod, Iphone and Itouch, I would strongly suspect Ipad intergration wouldn't happen until the next major update if at all, tbh I can't see why you would think of netbook intergration, I certainly wouldn't have thought about pluging in my Asus netbook. Anyway Ipad owners will have at least one of the others  ;)

It's just a bit rubbish producing something with a USB socket that doesn't charge any device.

iPad may be many things but it's not a net book.

Couldn't agree more Paula, plugged my Snooper MY-SPEED into the USB to charge it and hide the cable but it just brought up the main screen that appears when l update it on my laptop. Think its ridiculous it won't charge anything.... :thumbd:

Is that not why there is a 12 volt socket in the car ???
If its not on the compatible list then the chances are it wont work!
There are not a lot of cars on the market with a usb socket but if you plugged something into the 3.5mm jack socket on a Ford would you complain?
Not trying to sound negative but lets try and keep a bit of perspective on this subject.

I know where your coming from John but the 12 volt socket is located in a place thats a pain in the arse. If the USB charged then the wires could be hidden away and l wouldn't knock the plug of the MY-SPEED every time l change gear. In a perfect world everything would be in the perfect place.

Where is the 12V socket? In the boot?

This isn't due to the iPod adapter not supporting the iPad, its due to fiats low voltage/ampage USB port...

Standards are made for a reason, don't ya love it when people don't stick to em?

Not really - it's the iPad that requires higher voltage than the ipods...

I guess it is what most people use it for. There should most definitely be the death penalty for smoking in an Abarth.

correct, however USB port hardware, host controllers and software (drivers) should be made to a specific specification, and thus, should push out a certain ampage.

Alot of oem pc makers have also not being doing this and have had to release driver updates.

This really isnt Apples fault..
