Was at Thames yesterday having a new blue&me unit and fan unit fitted, and while I waited went and saw Ajay.
As I nosed around the cars I noticed the blue&me USB point looked different, it now has an AUX jack next to it. Ajay claimed that Abarth have put it in as not all phones work with the usb or have that type of adapter.
That got me thinking though, an AUX lead or typically a stereo 3.5mm lead will not by a data lead, so by plugging another type of phone in with this lead will use the speakers to play music, i.e an ipod or older ipod, but you won't be able to control that from the steering wheel.
no info published on this anyone else got more info?

The addition of the AUX wasn't advertised, as some of these model revision features tend not to be. Ajay's 'phone' claim is pure erm how can I put this... making it up on the spot, no one would add an aux socket for a phone, they are purely for audio devices, I give him 10/10 for spinnning it though You are right Dan it just allows playback through the media player there would be no control over the device plugged in via the car's interfaces beyond adjusting volume. The USB is still under a small flap next to it btw.

yep exactly what I thought I only know this cos in my old saab I had the same sort of thing and wished for a system like the Blue&Me, and before you lot start on the blue&me I actually love it now, yeah a few teething probs, but I would say 98% of the time it works perfectly and I love scrolling through switching from one song to another.... some could say its an extension of 'MY' TV remote

The problem with blue and me js that it takes over the media player. So on my iPhone it will only play the iPod. So if I want the sound from an app such as a radio streaming program I need aux.

I am looking forward to being able bluetooth up my phone to the car to be fair.... as a twice the price Audi didnt have that feature (as I didnt want to spend another 800 quid or so adding it)
After Ace Cafe (and learning that my A500 is now on site at Thames) I really REALLY want my pocketrocket

Ok...so I'm a little lost. What's it for then Its for using anything that can store/play music via a headphone jack such as a phone/mp3 player, so all you need is a double ended male cable and plug it into the headphone socket of the music device and the new aux plug in the car and it will play through the car speakers. Like said in above posts only downside is you will need to change the tracks via the device not the stereo/steering wheel controls.

Cheers That might work for some friends that jump into my car, plug their phone into the usb and say listen this tune I've just found....only to discover that I'm the only one that can skip track via steering wheel

I think its a great thing, but it does look a bit low tech with a "AUX" written on it

It's a bloody good idea, I hate using my Ipod via B&M or any other integrated system. Much prefer just getting a proper mount and using it via the standard interface. I wonder (doubt) if this could be retrofitted.

As Keith Richards tells it, Jones came up with the name "The Rollin' Stones" (later with the 'g') while on the phone with a venue owner. "The voice on the other end of the line obviously said, 'What are you called?' Panic. The Best of Muddy Waters album was lying on the floor—and track one was 'Rollin' Stone Blues'".

I doubt it could be retro fitted easily. Bound to be extra wiring involved.
Does the head unit in all the cars, even the older ones actually have in Aux in? I could certainly fit this, the console is presently out of my car!!

Sorry LL I wouldn't know, I've never had one out. Ask Aiden to pull the unit out and have a look at the back FORD use AUX as standard and if a car did not have it fitted a AUX kit with wire can be purchased that plugs into back of most FORD units (not Sony) and you can play your MP3 player then. I wish this was on the back of a FIAT radio like mine in the A500.
