What size USB or External Hard Drive do you have plugged in?

Any top tips for USB stick sizes?
or
External Drives?

I know they need to be formatted in Fat32

Not keen on Ipods or Iphones as i have to remove them before i leave the car.
Too many dodgy people in Laaandaaan. (sweeping statement) lol

All depends how many tracks you have and what bit rate they are. Most of mine are 256kbps and I managed to fit just under a 1000 on a 8GB stick

1000- nice :D do you have them in folders?
 
I have soooo much music its quite crazy! lol i currently have a 250gb + 500gb external which require an additional power,
a 40GB external which only requires USB power to work, and a selection of USB sticks largest being 16GB.

I'm planning (fingers crossed) to run my 40GB external and have my 16GB spare just incase i have any issues as i have read in previous posts.....

I suppose my curiousity is around the amount of data the car can read.

i suppose its like digital cameras and mobiles phones can only take a certain size memorycard -
So are cars the same?  :)

I used Windows Media Player to create a library by pointing it to my itunes folder. I had to convert as many itunes AAC files to Mpeg3 as possible (some of my AAC files are still protected  >:( ). This way if I update my itunes library Windows Media will also update if you set it up to do so. I plugged in the memory stick, formatted and dumped the library on to it. Now every time I plug the memory stick into the laptop it auto syncs and updates accordingly. The only thing I have to remember to do is convert files if I download from itunes.

It's a bit long winded but works for me and means I don't have to keep plugging the ipod in and out all the time. The small black memory stick I use is very unobtrusive when plugged in. Dodgy people here too!!

I'm not sure about some of your other questions about max read data. Hopefully there are some forum members with more technical knowledge on the subject :)

The only time i listen to music in the car is if i have a passenger   :whistle:
any other time i just listen to the engine  ;D
Monza exhaust should be sold as a stereo upgrade  8) ;)

I've done as much converting as i can handle lol...  ;D

All this protection stuff... its enough to make me go loopy! lol...

im looking forward to playing with the blue and me and winding up the woman... sounds fun... lets hope i dont break it haha.

how long have you had your abarth? and how have you found the sound quality?? :D

Mine seems to read the library on an almost full 16gig stick with no problem and a 10 sec load time. The B&M woman is something else though - try to change albums and she's on the phone to random folk from the contact list :computer:.

Could be my yorkkie accent!

I'm pretty much the same, 16GB stick and seems to work okay. I can press 'random' and it will start playing pretty much straight away but I have to wait a few minutes if I want to select a specific artist/folder/album/etc. Also, always keep a second USB stick with atleast one song on it in the car, so that you can switch back and forth to reset the playlist when it inevitably corrupts :thumbd:

I used to use 8s and 16s but kept getting library corruptions, back to 2gb sticks now and haven't had an issue..... also handy its the size that I buy in at work  :whistle:

How are you trying to change albums?  By voice? Or using the steering wheel controls?  ??? I though you couldn't use voice for album or artist names... only genre

I've given up on her, she's not to keen on Derby accents either. I just use random and don't bother about anything else.

I use a 16gb usb flash drive but get annoyed having to turn the shuffle function off everytime unless someone can advise how to turn it off permanantley.

It sounds like the blue and me system wont be getting along....

Doesnt it come with a handbook with voice instructions....

Maybe we need a glossary just on Blue and me.. LOL

Same here - getting to listen to stuff I had forgotten I had is a plus! Once behind the wheel I become a glass overflowing  :beer: kinda guy - Abarth fuelled optimism I think!
