Interesting snippet I was sent yesterday: the Fiat 500 appeared in the top 10 sales charts for the first time last month, selling 2,989 units (well up on the 993 sold in October last year), making it the 10th best seller in the UK.

It goes on: "Fiat’s 6,570 sales result for October was 117.5 per cent up on the 3,020 figure for the same period last year, in a market up by 31 per cent."

The BSM effect? I've certainly seen a lot of them.

I have been dealing with a couple of other matters so haven't looked at all the data yet but scrappage has had a very substantial effect as below shows with all of these manufactures with Sector A & B cars

Manufacture    %Market share increase Oct 09 on 08

Hyundai           286.60
Kia                 156.63
Fiat                117.55
Nissan             108.33
Suzuki             106.92

Even Renualt who have had an appauling year (-40.3% YTD) managed 94.96% for Oct so lots of Clio's

Another interesting one in October is Land Rover up 101.4% 2,584 units to 1,283 units last year and October was when things started going bad.

Interestingly in Italy 500 registrations are down 17.5% YTD whereas the old favourite the Panda is up 14% YTD. In UK to end Sept 500 YTD was 25% up.

I will also as usual comment on SAAB 335 units to 1,009 last year thats -66.8% and YTD it is -51.94% this looks like a crisis very very sad but that is what 20 years with GM does for you.

The Fiat 500 on the YTD position moves from 26 in Sept to 24 in Oct displacing the Merc C-Class and GM's Zafira. The Difference between the Nisan Micra and the Fiat 500 in Sept was 1,435 and in Oct 2,772 although the Nissan Note outsold the Micra by almost 20%.

To put things into context though the Fiat 500 YTD for Oct at 15,869 is less than the October only figure for the GM Corsa at 16,379 so the BSM deal does have some effect but it is private sales on scrappage that have the biggest influence.

Just on Alfa's 693 units for the month 81.53% were Mito's, 12.27% were 159's the other 6.2% is Brera, GT and 147

Well Statoholics here is something 'vely interesting' as promised re my post Nov 4th 1:05

Remember my post of 16 October when i got no response apart from needsmust when responded 'Germany' when i posed the question who is #2?

The answer is UK here is the proof

                 Germany            UK
A500 Sept      157               150
A500 Oct        60                142

A500 YTD Oct 849/852         922

The 849/852 is because the German stats have a 3 vehicle varriance currently but as we can all see more A500's have been registered in the UK this year than any other market apart from Italy.

This means that for FGA we should be considered 'very important customers' and that deficiencies in service etc need to be considered very carefully now we are paying premium for a premium brand. Obviously the LHD markets did get the A500 earlier than ourselves ie in 2008 but even so the recent launch of the 500C to the UK market first (the biggest convertable market in Europe) shows just how important the UK market is to FGA and to maintain customers bad dealers and bad service need dealing with.

Footnote Germany does have greater AGP registrations.

Hozepipe - As the figures now clearly show that we are the biggest market behind Italy this is an absolute priority which is what i belive i have suggested.

Well its time for November numbers all you statoholics and these show just what a strong market the UK is for FGA i have already illuded to the fact that we have gone past Germany in A500 registrations for the year last month and this months figures are still very strong. In fact over the last 3 months we have registered 507 Abarths far more than the 453 we registered in the 5 months Apl to Aug but things are on the horizon which will reduce the high numbers that have been seen the end of scrappage and the VAT increase.

I have tracked down the missing car from last month it was a Black A500 which failed to come through correctly so her is the revised October figures

So for Oct 2009
WAS                                           REVISED
            Oct               YTD             Oct               YTD
A500     142                921            143               922
AGP        15                209              15               209

Tot Ab  157               1130             157             1131

And now for Nov 2009

            Nov               YTD
A500     123               1045            20 less A500 than Oct
AGP        14                209              1 less AGP than in Oct and 2 Black AGP's reg in Nov!

Tot Ab  137               1268

So November has seen the 1,000 units mark exceded by the A500.

 And now for Nov 2009

            Nov               YTD
A500     123               1045            20 less A500 than Oct
AGP        14                209              1 less AGP than in Oct and 2 Black AGP's reg in Nov!

Tot Ab  137               1268

Feeling very exclusive now, as my black AGP was a late November reg!!  :thumb:

Well statoholics here it is the 2009 final figures

RED is the colour in terms of December registrations. AGP's had 62.5% in Red and for A500 it was the equal highest month with 18 in Red and the highest month in % of month registrations.

So here it is

           Dec       YTD
A500    89        1134
AGP     24          247

Total   113       1381

Come del gioco di coloure

I will now reveal all as a YE bonus full year detail of Registarations

             A500     %           AGP    %
White      693    61.11          96   38.87
Black       191    16.84          63   25.51
Grey        150    13.23          NA
Red         100      8.82         88    35.63

Total      1,134                   247
