Check Engine - Error Message
« on: August 21, 2010, 07:10:55 PM »
I have just had the amber Engine warning light come on, apparently it means there is a EOBD/Injection system failure. I also get "Check Engine" displayed on the menu. My 500ss has only done 10k.

Anyone else had any experiences of this problem?

Or anyone know how to fix it, other than the obvious dealer option?

i think its sadly a dealer thing.as it would haveto be plugged in computer to even get close to finding out the full problem.when it comes down to electronics..not much you can do

I had the same thing happen in my Fiat 500 last weekend! It has had done 25,000 miles.

I left it for an hour for the engine to cool down. When I started it up, the warning light had already extinguished.

I just hope it doesn't happen in my new A500C though.

treat it like any other computer, cut the power and see if it works when you switch back on, it works on blue and me, worth a try :thumb:

Is it idling OK?
Probably best to take it in to get the code read.
I wouldn't suggest leaving it as it may be a coil or injector on the way out,
If it's an open injector or coil pack it could cause overfueling, leading to CAT failure over a prolonged time.

Just my 2p.

Woo hoo, got my Baby back yesterday. It was only a Lombard sensor that had failed, and it was free under the warranty.

Lambda sensor (or O2 sensor)

Lombard is a financial company   ;D
