After ringing around a few dealers, best price ive had quoted for my upcoming low mileage service has been £141 inc VAT from Research.

Not bad I suppose, but then again when its effectively only an oil and filter change it does tempt me to go to an indy to get it done, for probably less than half that.

Just be mindful that what you may save today, may end up costing you in the future, particularly if you ever trade back in to the dealer network. I know it shouldn't, but it does. Also buyers are sticklers for full dealer service history (until they have to pay for it themselves  Grin)

do you need a low mileage service or just an oil and filter change. make sure your not paying labour charges for a load of checks you don,t need to satisfy the warranty conditions

no, has to have at least a low mileage service once a year if you do less than 6000m, and can have them every other year alongside the bigger services - the thing is though, after quizzing the service depts that i spoke to, all that actually consists of IS just replacing oil and filter, along with pollen filter. they dont actually do all the checks. suppose they just call it a service to make it sound more!

anyway im not complaining - i do low mileage and £140 for the 1st year aint actually that bad, that was my original point Smiley

Just a minor correction to the above.

For the record, my first service (full) was £250-ish.

Any ideas what i should pay guys and gals? Due next month, 15,000 miles approx, to high for low mileage service. Been quoted almost £400 which is too pricey for me. What actually gets done besides oil and oil/air filter?

aside from a load of checks and fluid top-ups, the only extra thing they change at 1st main service over the low mileage one are the spark plugs.

not a great deal really - so if you cant get a quote for less than that its probably worth getting it done somewhere else imo.

got a full 18000 mile service today at arnold clark i m not sure the cost as i have a £450 prepaid service plan... pretty good of them as the car had only done 6500 miles.
I would have been upset if they had done anything less i.e. low milage service, but i spoke to the service guy and he explained they dont do low milage services after one year on A500s Thumb Up

A500SS
1st (18,000 mile) service
Today
at Richard Hardie in Newcastle/Wallsend/Silverlink
it cost me £324.83 (including 15% VAT)
Sealing gasket 0.85
air filter £14.52
Spark plugs £49.92
Oil filter £12.76
Screenwash !! £1.65
Selenia oil £37.50
Environmental disposal £5.95
Labour £153.30
(Total parts £117.20)
They finished half an hour after the time they told me and I wasn't offered anything.
cbbc was on TV
Not a great experience I must admit, plus I need to go back again to get a coolant leak sorted and there's some play on the suspension top strut bearing which needs sorting (both under warranty, but it'll be a two day job).
