Hi all
My A500 is due go in for a short service (oil and filter) and some bits and pieces under warranty.
I've been told they'll need the car for 24 hours and that they'll provide me with a car to drive back home in (60 mile round trip). The dealer is also part of a Japanese car dealership.
What's the chances of being given another Abarth for the day? Has this been the case for you guys?
And - do they give it a wash / valet as part of their customer service (I think I know the answer to this one!)?

Don't hold your breath. I had a basic F500 when mine went in for work (didn't like) but i also had a TOTR Alfa MiTo 155 from another garage. It all depends where you go. If they do have any Abarths though, they probably try and keep them free as demo's and test drivers For such a short distance and short period of time, expect something basic

I wouldn't provide abarths to customers! Something basic is all you should expect. Should be cleaned though...(mine was)

Don't know about other garages but Thames Slough don't have Abarths as courtesy cars. When mine when in for some minor work I was given a F500 1.2 (covered in pink stickers!) and another time I had an GP. They should definitely wash it (not sure if all garages clean the inside as well though).

I was given a fiat grande punto 1.4 when I had warranty work. My car goes in again for warranty work tomorrow been offered a car but too annoyed to mention about the whole story as it looks like I won't get one now. So alot of long walking and train journeys before I go to work They washed the car when it had it's service (I washed it the day before) and the car came out looking dirty when it was previously clean it was all covered in smeary water marks.

We specifically tell them not to wash the car. Martin

Usually get a base Punto, but did get a diesel Leon the other day. They do try to make you pay for insurance waiver on the car £15 plus vat and scare you with the £2k excess if you don't.

They mentioned this insurance business to me - £10 though. But surely I'm covered being fully comp? Or do I have to add that vehicle to my policy for that day?

check your insurance certificate. some policies cover loan cars and some don,t i got a panda loan car and finally, if their going to clean the car tell them not to put that evil black stuff on the tyres, it.ll be all over the car by the time you get home

Fairly standard practice and has been for many years given the cost of insurance.

Hi I've had a basic 500, GP or Panda when mines been in so don't get too excited! Think they washed it once, but they must have used drain water with added lime. Better to wash it youself. As for the inside all I get is dirty boot marks (but they do leave me a nice piece of crumpled brown paper on the floor mat) Insurance wise, they sort it out but check the excess with them, my dealer is £700

Yes managed to get a courtesy car today they really didn't want to give me insurance I told them basically it's warranty work why should I pay and if they wouldn't do it I wouldn't be able to leave my car there to have the work done.
They said it was my age that was the issue (Think I may have been older than the bloke dealing with me) but as I see it I still purchased the car just like people who may have been just year and a half older or more than me, who would have had no problems.
They gave me a basic panda (again because of my age as I'm year and 6 months too young) and I'm finding it really hard to drive don't feel like I have much control.
