Snow foam lances. Advice Needed!
« on: December 13, 2010, 05:17:38 PM »
Now the roads are properly mucky with grit, a proper pre-wash has become a must in my opinion.

I had use of a friends snow foam kit at the weekend as was very impressed as the muck was very easy to shift after snow foaming the car.

I have been looking at this -

What would those of you with snow foam kit recommend or use?

That's the same one I've got and never had any problems with it.

The hardest thing is getting the right mix of snow foam.

Ahh right, that explains why a corner of my drive looked like it had just snowed then!!!!

What foam are you using ABagp?

Dan, its a pre wash, i still used a bucket and sponge but it will reduce the need for contact washing a fair bit.

Here's pretty much the same one but cheaper  :thumb:

I wouldn't buy a second hand one just out of being picky. Apparently the foam can dry out inside them and deteriorates the components if not rinsed properly.

I use Meguiars Hyper Wash with mine, a small squirt in the bottom topped up with water will do my AGP and my dad's 407 barge.

It doesn't replace the wash mitt (not sponge!) but makes it a hell of a lot quicker. The foam just removes a fair amount of the dirt on the surface before you do a contact wash. In winter I do it in this order as it can be done very quickly:

Snow foam, let foam dwell for 5 minutes
Rinse off
Snow foam and wash mitt
Rinse off again

Take 30 minutes max and keeps it clean enough during winter.

I use the Autobrite foam lance, excellent bit of kit, mixes the foam very accurately.
In the winter i give the car a pre wash using G101. Leave G101 for a few minutes then jet wash off and all the heavy dirt will be gone :thumb:, then snow foam and whilst this is left to dwell, i agitate the snow around the bottom of the car (with mit0 where the dirt can be hard to remove, then jet wash off.

Job done :thumb:

I currently use just a pressure washer and mitt, but when I replaced a old pressure washer with attachment with soap bottle on the lance I made the mistake of buying one which you put the soap in the pressure washer itself and have to lower the pressure to get the soap to pick up... To say its hit and miss is an understatment Grrrrrrr

AnyWho... I was told by somebody I work with, its not a great idea to snow foam to regularly as it may be harmfull to the paintwork f used say once a week?! Opinions on that?
