The thing is I use public transport during the week and I spend the working week with my parents in E.London so I wouldnt want it sitting out in the street, also I have my Alfa 156 for the odd day I do use the car for work into C.London.

And lets be totally honest who wouldnt want to pick and chooce when they could us their car? Plus its more of a treat if you only get to drive it say 2 or 3 days a week, most people sell a car because they get bored with it or buy a hot hatch and then end up selling them for a more family based car.

Besides if it wasnt like people like me and a few (sad lol) others there wouldnt be low mileage cars for the future, only motorway mileage cars, how often do you come across a low mileage Sierra or Cavalier? I know its not quite the same thing but Im sure people felt the same way when things like Escort RS Turbos came along... some Fun, Sporty yet Practical and although there is the odd low mileage example out there most are close if not over 100k and what RS fan wouldnt want a Series 1 or 2 Escort RS Turbo with low mileage?

I know not everyone will understand but who cares lol

Rory been in the garage since friday, albeit filthy dirty, but atleast warm and dry. I shall be taking the 4x4 to work today, roads aren't clear and they forecast more snow over next 24 hrs so am not taking the risk with him as there are some hills I don't fancy.

I would say, if the roads aren't clear, ur A500 will be fine to leave for a month, the battery shouldn't drain and if the garage is intergral its not going to freeze, cold, but not outside against the raw elements.

Tiny car is proving a great little winter workhorse - council are claiming that they are gritting it's just too cold for it to work so generally hairy out there but you just point it where you want to go and it sorts it's life out. Very impressed. Never been quite so filthy though.

Still want a four wheel drive version a la Audi quattro though :)

Had a 4WD Audi A4 last winter which was fantastic,, most certainly the best thing about that car was its snow and ice capabilities (boring as hell on a normal day)

I wont lie, I wasnt looking forward to going to work on Monday in the Abarth - having driven the wifes 4x4 truck over the weekend - but needs must and so far I am quite impressed with how it is coping.

I buy cars to get me from A to B, they are a tool to do a job in my eyes... so, no question of wrapping it up in cotton wool and shutting it in a garage.

If I win the lottery, then maybe the Abarth (and my 458, my Lambo and a few classics that I would love) would sit in a garage while my Range Rover or Q7 got covered in salt and grit during the winter going backwards and forwards to Waitrose... but until then, life goes on and Luigi gets dirty!

We never start the beast unless we can actually take it for a run even if its just around the block, if your going to make bits move, best to make them all move

Not to mention that if you fire it up and dont use it the battery isnt going to charge back up

Cheers, finally managed to get the 500 out Christmas eve and have used it last couple of days and seems non the worse for sitting for a while. Any period without use I'll leave it rather than start just for the sake of it.

It was only really the cold I was bothered about and the garage took the main chill of so not too bad, bit tappy the yesterday when the car registered -3 but there is another thread about oils so no need to go too into depth about that
