VAT From UK Abarth Dealers
« on: January 13, 2011, 09:37:34 PM »
Hi, i am still deciding about specs etc. I am based in jersey in the channel islands which as many of you may know is not liable to VAT. I have been quoted prices for the car so far but they all include a nearly £700 delivery fee plus the cost of the SS kit i am interested in is £3k + fitting! I was wondering if i was to buy a car from a Uk dealer would you know if they would be able to knock off the vat? would this work for a second hand car also?

Knock off 20%, only in a alternate reality :thumbd:
We dont get anywhere near that sort of margin on Abarth cars.

The Monza's are still available through the Abarthisti shop at £799 which has no VAT increase.
Its difficult to say about the kits as there is no real RRP and dealers appear to charge different prices.

Cheers john for this information. Excuse my naivety on the subject but surely the vat is able to be recouped by the dealer as it would be exported from the UK? On a more simple scale i have in the past ordered TV's Laptops etc from the UK and suppliers have been more than happy to remove the vat.

The quote i have for the following spec:
 F500 Abarth
 Funk White
 Side Stripe
 Red Leather
 17" Alloys
 Split Rear Seat
 Matts

£14,300 + SS Kit at £3K + Fitting Costs Said to be 1-2 Days of Labour

Would any dealer be able to get close to this figure in the UK from your experience?

That depends on what they are going to charge you for the "1 to 2 days of labour" for the esse esse kit.

Having just checked with the accounts department you are correct, VAT would not be charged if you have a channel islands address and can prove export within 3 months i.e. a ferry ticket with the cars reg number on it.

That,s anoying let me know what they quot you delivererd Jersey.

Academic though as I have just placed my oder with the local dealer, he did give me a discount wich softened the blow, but we could have teamed up with a UK dealer and ordered two.

Ah well
