I am pretty patient and already have a 500 to get around in. However, I have been putting off a long road trip until the A500 arrives. The other thing is that I don't want to be an 'Abarth Wannabe' anymore.  :thumbd:

I was an Abarth Wannabe prob less than a week ago & now I'm nearly an Esseesse Member  :thumb:

Go on get involved, you'll feel better for it  ;D

Fred

As John has expained it does take a while. Your car would have been on Grande Portogallo if it is an A500 which was in on Saturday but as Grande Scandanavia came in not long after it would have taken probablly all that time just to get a status 40 (depot Unprepared) it then has status 45 (Depot Prepared) prior to a status 50 (Delivery Instructions) being issued to the Logistics company and don't forget there are another 6 to 8 cars to go on one transporter heading for your dealer or a couple of dealers. New Car logistics is a very complex operation and very very expensive.

I know this won't ease your desire to have your car but it is better that the vehicle is processed correctly to ensure that you have a complete and undamaged car at the end of the day.

If your dealer tells you your status code then you will know where it is in the process but as John says i would reckon on the middle end of next week.

Latest status on ships in to Portbury
Grande Spagna    Friday 6             from Valencia
Grande Bretagna  Saturday 7         from Setubal
Grand Benelux     Sunday 8           from Antwerp

So those waiting for A500's will potentially a bit of a longer wait with 3 ships in in so many days and the one from Antwerp being the last of those.

Something I've been wondering about is whether all 500s are built in Poland or do they make the A500s in Italy?

Only the Assetto Corse are made in Italy.
The normal production A500 all come out of the Tichy plant on Poland.

Off the same line too, we have seen various pics which have a 500, a panda a Ka and an A500 all on the same production run.

Just to add to what lloyd and John have said here is a quick run down on what currently is made where within FGA
A= Abarth
Ar= Alfa Romeo
F= Fiat
Fo= Ford
L= Lancia

Country       Plant             Products
Poland      Tychy              F500,Panda & Seicento FoKa A500
Italy         Melfi (Sata Spa) FGrande Punto AGP
Italy         Cassino             F194 Croma & 198 Bravo L 844 Delta
Italy        Mirafiori(Torino)  A Mito L Musa & Thesis F Multipla, Idea & Punto

There are a couple of other car production plants Giambattista Vico (Alfa) although Bravo's have been produced there and Termini Imerese which is just about to close where the Lancia Ypsilon. Also France and Turkey have plants where some car production takes place.

So essentially if you want an A500 it comes by train from Tychy Poland up to Antwerp So these tend to be on Grimaldi ships out of Antwerp
If it is an AGP then as the Melfi plant is at Potenza if the Grimaldi ship has been in at Salerno (the nearest port to Melfi) and usually stopped at Setubal or Valencia on its way up to Portbury then that will be your boat.

Logistics don't always quite work like that but generally that is how they go. Trust this is of some help to those waiting for their ship to come in.

olopboy so sorry for not detailing that but i did mention that Giambttista Vico is where Alfa's are made the 159 platform Alfa 159 & Alfa GT and the Alfa 147.

The Alfa Brera And the Alfa Spider are Assembeled by Pininfarina at S.Giorgio C.se Torino. Interesting development to see that Gianmario Rossignolo (he was biding against the group for Carrozzeria Bertone)has apparently signed an agreement with Pininfarina to lease and run one of the Pininfarina plants for his IAI outfit!!!

The Alfa 8C is made by Maserati in Modena.

If you want to know any more about plants etc let me know.

Hi Delaney - my Wife has a 500C that's supposed to arrive in the country next week. What do I ask the dealer for so I can track it? The name of the ship?
As Keith Richards tells it, Jones came up with the name "The Rollin' Stones" (later with the 'g') while on the phone with a venue owner. "The voice on the other end of the line obviously said, 'What are you called?' Panic. The Best of Muddy Waters album was lying on the floor—and track one was 'Rollin' Stone Blues'".
