Whitewash number two!
« on: November 13, 2011, 03:19:41 PM »
Following my first thread which I shared with several members on this forum about getting the 17" petals whitewashed earlier this year...

Last month I purchased a set of 17" 10-spoke alloys off Joe with the intention of using them as summer wheels whereas the petals would perform winter duty. I've had them undergo the all-white treatment at the same place earlier this week and they charged me £212 for the job. Another cracking job by them, myself having spent a while stroking the spokes on an individual basis.

I have had the new winter tyres go on the petals this morning - the lads at my local Kwik Fit centre were ace, having done such a large job a) take wheels off b) take PZero Nero's off petals c) fit them to the winter tyres d) fit spokes to the Nero's e) wheel balance all of them f) fit wheels back on the car e) load winter tyres in the back of the car and they didn't charge for this extra work. I will bear them in mind for future work. The winter wheels are now stacked in the garage awaiting call of duty when snow is officially forecast.

Look good in white, but they are going to be a nightmare to keep clean.

That's why they are for summer use. They have been waxed before tyres were put on. I believe it's also a nightmare keeping the SS alloys (especially in white) clean.

They'll be fine to keep clean if you've waxed them a few times. That is if you have standard brake pads, I'm getting p'd off with the brake dust the DS2500's give off  :-[.

They look amazing too, i think ill go down this route with my 10 spokes when they're looking a bit tired.

Kwik-fit!!!!!!  :o :o :o

I appreciate your concern. They let me watch them in the fitting workshops rather than the customer's lounge and I was happy with the progress they had made. The supervisor just said to be careful in there.

There were about six customers waiting for their turn but the lads didn't rush or cut corners in this job.

Not all Kwik Fit people are the same. It would not be fair to tar all of them with the same brush.

Thanks Kai.

It was easier to go this way than swap tyres on one set of alloys - you have to go to the local tyre fitters every time a change of tyres is needed. Both the summer and winter alloys are original manufacturer's parts and my insurer is aware of that. They also know about the winter tyres but it has no bearing on my insurance following a directive from the ABI.

Looks awesome!

And your right white wheels are a nightmare to keep clean, even when i wash my wheels, as soon as the wheel has rotated a few times they turn black epecially on the spokes  >:(
