Figures and uprating?
« on: December 11, 2011, 11:51:11 PM »
If I was to say I wanted to run an AGP-SS with ~225bhp & ~275lb-ft torque; how easy is that to achieve and how reliable would it be running those figures on the main engine/suspension components?

I've seen a couple of figures thrown about after being TMC'd and it varies from roughly 210-235bhp? Not too sure about the torque figures that come with it. More concerned about achieving the torque than the BHP, so, would you guys guess TMC could boost it up to around the 275lb-ft area?

I think I saw Daron quoting the turbo at being able to cope with 230-240bhp, so I'm not after mad power increases as I don't fancy replacing/uprating a turbo. But in regards to other components, including suspension, what's the weakest part(s) that might struggle to handle that power? Basically, is there any specific part you guys would uprate if you were going to run those kind of figures - or should all the standard SS parts be able to cope without any increased problems?

Just trying to gauge what the common problems are and what might be more likely to break/fail with a power increase, so I can predict/anticipate expenditure and uprating a few things

Cheers guys :thumb:

You may well find you have those figures from the Tmc. But a cat back exhaust is a must as the standard one is extremely restrictive. Tmc also have these.

Well I think I'll be one of the few that will have the TMC exhaust but not the TMC box. So will be able to see exactly how much of a difference it will make. Can't wait for the noise alone  ;D

The pops n bangs from the exhaust are better without the Tmc box anyway  :thumb:

True, mine doesn't pop or bang at all with TMC box fitted :thumbd:

Tbh if you have the Esseesse already then the only thing I'd say is a must would be brake pads (depends how hard you are going to drive it tho).
The dump valve has been known to go on a couple of occasions, mine being the first but I have done a lot of miles with it fitted.
Torque figures, I can't remember off the top of my head but I'll try and dig out the dyno sheet. 420nm rings a bell but all I really remember was it having more torque than the Audi TT diesel that ran on the same day so was pretty pleased with it.

Hope this helps a little.

Damn, that would be nice to pull those figures from just boxing it! Exhaust will probably be an upgrade at some point, depending on how bored I get of the standard one :thumb:

Really helpful, cheers buddy! Reassuring to hear that quite high figures are gained just from TMC'ing. Will see how far my pads are from wearing out and definitely consider some upgrades.
