I dont think the pictures are doing the car any justice, wait and see the car on the flesh and make your decision from there :thumb:

The scoop, direct from Italy, is that the Abarth Punto Evo is set to be priced from £16,500.

More details to follow later.

So, only £1,205 more than a Fiat Punto Evo Sporting.  Better than I thought.

But £2100 more than the current model. Hardly a bargain. Any discounts likely?

That makes it a lot of a bargin and for a 'grand' more it could steal a fair few sales from the Fiat Evo.

Not worth comparing to the old model as you just can't buy it... if you want price hikes go look at the original cost of a 1.2 500 pop to the current price  :o (7.9k up to 9.3k btw and thats with no equipment changes barring stop start and a different back axel)

Any solid info on performance. I know the SS kit version is rumoured to be 180bhp, but what about torque, 0-60 time and crucially is the 500 SS still faster.

All the tech details for the standard car are in the second post of the thread although in Euro-ese. The APE NP is the same 0-62 as the A500 NP (7.9) although the APE developes a lot more torque 250nm vs 206nm a bit lower down in the range 2.25k rpm vs 3k rpm.

Just to compare with the AGP so its in one place: the out going car develops 230nm @ 3k although they both produce peak their BHP at 5k rpm, 155bhp for the AGP vs 165bhp for the APE

Going to make over taking manuvers that much easier  ;D

SS is confirmed at 180bhp but nothing more has been released, I would expect to see a significant change to the power delivery peak and torque on that puppy.

I dare say John and the other dealers out there will be telling us how great it is very shortly  ;D

I wont post much tonight as I've just got back and I'm completly knackered :thumbd:
All I can say is that everyone that drove the APE today was very impressed with changes. There were some very big smiles from people getting out of the car :thumb:
Do not make the mistake of judging the looks of the car by the press photos (which i must admit I did), it looks far better in the flesh.
Some nice touches inside and drive wise the NP that I drove today seemed every bit as quick as the AGP SS I have been driving for the last 2 years :thumb:
Wait for it to arrive (last week of June/ first week of July), look at it, drive it and then make your mind up :thumb:

edit, now available in Campovolo grey which looks the dogs b*ll*cks :thumb:

To be honest I keep seeing more and more pics popping up here and there of this I saw a pic of a red one the other day and I actually thought it looked better in those pics or maybe it just looks better in another colour

Still I am going to be sticking with my AGP I enjoy the car too much and spent too much on it ;D

In what way is £16500 a bargain for the standard car?

My GPA cost £13500 standard 20 months ago and that included the Interscope upgrade and 12v power supply that are now cost options.

Just because the Punto Sporting is overpriced doesn't make the GPA a bargain. An extra 10bhp? Wow. It doesn't need extra power unless you're easily impressed by numbers. It does need attention to ride, handling and nvh. Badly.

The GPA didn't sell at 13.5k and I can't see the situation improving at 16.5k unless the car is vastly improved.

Throw away those rose-tinted specs, Specsavers will do you some clear ones at a reasonable price.

I notice that the colour range has now been widened to... grey.

Hi Mick
I was the first to say I was sceptical about the car.
Final spec for the U.K. hasn't been finalised yet but from what I saw yesterday there is nothing wrong with the new ride and handling.
Have a go when it turns up and then give me your opinion :thumb:
