Hi everyone,
I don't think this has been asked before, but apologies if I've missed it while searching.
My AGP EsseEsse was bought new in Nov 2009 and is due a cambelt. I'm looking for advice on what work is needed & what the cost should be, etc.
The car has only done 8000 miles - yes I know, but I have an assorted selection of classic Fiat's & the mileage gets spread around! Before anyone says it, 5 years was right for the cambelt I believe, as the journeys it undertakes are usually longer ones not shopping trips (but it sits around most of the time unused).
Servicing wise it had a low mileage service in year 1 from Thames in Slough, and another small service from Glyn Hopkin Romford in year 2 (this was basically oil & filter service plus check over to keep the 3rd year warranty intact). Since then it's had oil & filter at a local garage.
So, the car has had zero big services and no change of plugs, brakes, etc. it's running perfectly, and half of me thinks it's best to leave sleeping scorpions......
If it was yours, what needs doing at the next service - oil & filter, cambelt, plus what? Does it need the 72k service listed in the schedules, or will that over service it (or miss something which would have been done earlier per the schedule?).
Any idea of likely cost for a cambelt change type service?
Do I need to use an Abarth dealer or is a Fiat dealer capable of doing it (correctly!!), or would you go independent? I worry it's a bit complicated for a non specialist garage?
Lastly, does anyone have any good experiences with Abarth or other garages? I'm in Bucks, but can go round the M25 easily enough, or head up the M40 if there's anyone good Warwick direction.
Be gentle, I'm a bit lost with servicing on such a low mileage, as it's the first car I've bought new which doesn't do 9k a year!!
Thanks muchly in anticipation.
