you.ll be fine, the drilled brakes are mostly cosmetic in road use. Thumb Up

The brakes are perfectly safe with a TMC fitted on the standard AGP.

I would agree the brakes on the standard AGP are fine for road use. They will get very warm and have slight fade if u give it lets say "spirited" driving hence why I had the upgrade but it takes alot to notice it.  Thumb Up

Regarding the comparison with Clio RS...

I've done a couple of trackdays on a twisty go-kart track and achieved 58:8. My friend who owns a stock RS CUP managed 57:3 (believe me, 1/2 sec. on this track is a lot). He's a very capable driver but I can drive as well...Corsa OPC, Golf GTI V, Civic Type R and simmilar were all well of both his and my time. He uses Contisport C3 tires which imho are pretty darn sticky, but I'd still say that the Clio in general is much more of a track car than an AGP. Mind you, I also use Eibach springs (Pro)...

As for the straights, I never managed to find an RS to try it. I did however make a few runs with an OPC and can easily say that both cars are practically identical when it come sto straight accelerating from 60 mph --->. Unfortunately, Corsa is not really a performer when it comes to twisty sections.

If I'm lucky enough, I will meet a friend today, that just bought a new Beeza Cupra and we'll see.

I still believe that Clio (if you manage to get it off line nicely) will leave the AGP and SS AGP behind...

Apart from mid-range torque, which makes such a difference in day-to-day use, the Clio RS is much better than the GPA.

Steering, handling, turn-in and particularly ride and comfort are in a different league. It was a Cup-chassied version that I tried. Road noise was well suppressed too.

The standard Clio seats are excellent but for a mere £800 extra you can get Recaros which move the game on quite a bit. The Corsa VXR has Recaros as an option, they'll fit my GPA. Hmm. The Sabelts are rubbish, no proper support even compared to the standard GPA seats.

I've used my GPA on the track and it was quite good, I thoroughly enjoyed it anyway. However it does need that torque as the power tails off quite early. Good on the road, lacking on the track. I am also using Eibachs, better than standard and probably SS, together with Goodyear F1 Assymetrics which grip like gooduns though some may not like their (apparently) flexible sidewalls. I don't have any complaints about this.

As for getting the car off the line, well you usually only do that once per track session anyway. The rest of the time you'd just be enjoying the extra composure that the Clio gives.

Not what people want to hear methinks.

One of the comics gave details of next years Clio RS upgrade - lighter, more aerodynamic and 220bhp. Priced from £17000.

Now if that comes to pass, it would move the game on a bit.

Renault? Whistle

They are have the sensible attitude that if it's not necessary for performance, leave it off, save cost and offer the toys as a cost option for those that want them. So the performance variant (Cup) will be cheaper and lighter than the softer version.

I swapped a clio 197 for my AGP and ss kit or not the clio would win hands down on the track.

In a sraight line the clio is vulnerable to defeat because it hasn't got much torque low down in the revs but once you get it into the powerband it will keep on pulling away. My best memory of my clio was 120mph on the pit sraight on silverstone with 2 passengers, and beating a e36 m3 at santa pod, he couldn't get it off the line it i still beat him.

On a more possitive note i cancelled my order for a white ibiza cupra to get my AGP and i'm glad i did. Its not the best looking car in the world but the engine was good and so was the DSG box.
