over the pathetic squealing brakes? I can put on with the high pitched quiet one but not the one that sounds like a bloody lorry coming up to a round about. I was taking the misses work this morning and i realised that i had started to brake differently to avaoid the noise which is not only prob dangerous but why the hell should i?!?!?!??!?!? Platts have been fantastic but its now time to put some pressure on Abarth and Fiat. I know other people with Brembo brakes on different cars and theirs are fine. Sort it Abarth...or should i say Fiat

Ditto! Shims fitted a few thousand miles ago seemed to sort out the problem temporarily but now it is imitating a Leyland bus again.  I seem to get a 'two-note' squeak as if both brakes have started squeaking at the same time. I’m wondering whether they put copper grease on the shims and it has now washed off over the winter.  I shall have to ask …

11 months, and 18000 miles later, no squeaks at all for me

there must be somthing they can do. No way i can put up with the load screach. Ive looked at other cars with Brembo brakes on and they dont seem to do it 

Just had a look into squealing brakes and found some bits and there seems to be other cars with brembo's that squeal aswell
Just found some causes into squealing brakes

Squealing brakes indicate one of two things - pad type or poor pad installation.

By pad type I refer to the triangle of inequality - in this case, clean pad/effective pad/quiet pad - and as they say, pick two. You can get a quieter pad, but you'll have to give up cleanliness or stopping power.

Generally pads that have better performance and dust characteristics squeal while cold - when they warm up the squeal is gone.

The other possibility, poor installation, means that an even backing compound is not in place. By removing the pads, cleaning the backing plate, reapplying a smooth and even backing you may lose this.

Also found out in some cases of squealing brakes just change the pad to another manufacture's pad has cured this

But then it could also be the caliper design and this is a reason why new car dealers just dismiss the problem and as alot of us have had the pads changed and shims put on this is why they may not be doing anymore

Thanks!  Been in to SG Petch today. As usual, friendly staff, but all they seem to be able to think of doing is replace the pads and shim kit (again). Humm... another letter to FIAT I suspect - I should learn, ever since my 127 Sport I have been having problems with them. The file is getting bigger.

Anyone want a 9K miles GPA (with new brake pads)?
