Engine management light
« on: November 06, 2011, 05:26:59 PM »
Well here we go again, driving home from work earlier and I put my foot down to the feeling reminiscent to that I had in August/September:(.  Seemed to be struggling for power a couple of times, then I get a high pitched whistle from the turbo area. Split boost pipe? Possibly. Dump valve gone again? Maybe. But now the engine management light has come on and also brought up the hill holder unavailable messages etc with it!
Looks like a call to the dealers again in the morning:(

Agree :thumb:

Get yourself an OBD reader too..  If you were closer I'd offer the use of mine

As you have just had something changed in the boost pipe work I would check that, sometimes if you re use the clips they don't clamp the same and a pipe could of popped off, unless of course its intermittent.

Once again - sounds EXACTLY like my issue...

Rev's increase, so does boost, boost disappears, tries to spool back up, failed, engine 'limps' get engine management light, hill holder warning, ASR unavailable error... clears itself after about 50 miles?

This is the first time I've had the engine management light come on, apart from when my battery went. Even with the original dump valve issue I didn't get the warning lights ???

Just called the dealers and it's going in tomorrow so fingers crossed it will be a simple fix .

Hmmm just picked my car up from the garage to be told that it was a loose connection and that everything was well. Brilliant. Of course as soon as I hit the motorway and put my foot down she lit up like a bloody Xmas tree again! Great. DeAler is going to try and get me a car out tomorrow so they can have it back in.

Sorry to hear about your problem Ash, hope the dealer will sort it out.

If you know an AA patrol man, he'll be able to plug his laptop in your car and give you a diagnostic so you'll know what area the problem arises from roughly.

Definitely seems like a Dump valve failure again.
I totally lost boost the other day again, after a while a let the car sit for a while and when i restarted it i had full boost again but it was massively struggling :thumbd:
Dealer will replace the valve again i just have to book it back in so thats a + for once from Wessex.

I have e-mailed a few companies to see about replacement DV's tonight though so may just do that and hope there are no more issues.

I'll update this when i know a bit more.

You are not far wrong there Lloyd ::)
