MOT and 36000 mile service
« on: January 06, 2012, 02:16:03 PM »
It was a big day today today, 36000 miles service and MOT.

service was £265, i supplied the oil and didn't need air filter(cleaned it myself),pollen filter(not bothered)or brake fluid(done at 2 years)

0.6 litres of oil returned unused

MOT was £35, passed with no advisories. P Zeros still have 4mm of tread after 16000 miles.

asked them to check out the creaky rear suspension but its stopped doing it. i think putting the car on the ramp with its wheels dangling actually has an effect on this ;D

amongst the various bits of paper they gave me was the official Abarth service tick sheet, guess what, it agrees with the book and the servicing sticky

Pretty happy with the whole exercise :thumb:

Nice one Lloyd.  Mine got done back in July.  Was 'failed' on first pass for an out of alignment headlight   ???

My creaky back suspension is still an issue, but the folk who service my baby (Walkers in Northallerton) have checked it all out and find nothing amiss.  They have tywraped various bits & bobs and put draught sealer on various internal bits if bodywork.  Mind you, they usually service Delta Integrales so random bags of spanners left lying around inside teh car are probably considered commonplace.

I find that mine is creakyest at slow speeds (20mph), between 30 & 40 it is more of a knock that a creak and, interestingly, I don't hear any complaints above 50 even on potholey roads.  Is this like yours. We think it might actually be an internal noise inside the shock?

thats pretty much what what mines like. or was, as it hasn't done it since the service. i think jacking the car up does something that misaligns something or conversely puts it back into alignment.

could be the damper extending to its limit and then recompressing or i have wondered if the spring baseplates move about slightly when theres no load on them.

another thought is that jacking the car up one side at a time puts some sort of twist on the rear beam and links which then cures when both sides are jacked together

obviously i'm no suspension expert but whatever it is it comes and goes

i'tll be all quiet now till i put my summer wheels on, then we start again ;D

hmm... I'm certainly guilty as charged as well.  Mine hasn't been on a 'big' jack since I put on the winter wheels.  I should get someone to put it on a jack to test your theory and see if I can get rid of teh noise...

i'd laugh until i cried (or vice versa) if  three and a half years of creaky AGPs ends up being cured by dangling their wheels ;D

Hi guys,

just reading this regarding the creaking suspension... i discovered that after i went on holiday i got this creaking/knocking from the rear drivers side wheel after the car had been standing for a week (the creaking/knocking gradually got worse). The gap in the wheel arch is smaller than the passengers side as well (could be a different issue) but after it being in abarth yesterday where they had it on the ramp and inspected it they told me that the droplinks can sometimes be noisier and its nothign to worry about for now. After i put some new tyres on they will check the car is in allignment and everything is how it should be.

Surprisingly after using the car this morning on the way to work the noise from the rear drivers side now seems to have disappeared...

yep, a good wheel dangling solves the creaky suspension. Got to be one the quirkiest bits of AGP ownership ;D

Carmen has recently started creaking & banging on the rear right.

I'm assuming it's a dead shock or top mount as it's the only one on the back that hasn't been replaced...  Stupid warranty work and refusing to replace things properly!!!

... might be an excuse to splash out on some Koni's

lloyd mine isnt SS, just standard AGP.

update - today my creaking has come back (rear right). Less than a week after abarth had it and said nothing is wrong. Im gonna purchase two new pirellis then send it back and they told me they can properly check it, put it on a wheel allignment machine, make sure everything is fine. I am convinced that it is something to do with the suspension though.
