Paint & Badge Q's
« on: February 01, 2012, 10:22:44 PM »
Looking to have the mirror caps resprayed in black, but want it to match the spoiler on the back of the AGP.
1. Is the black on the spoiler the same colour used on the black AGP (891 - Scorpion Black)?
2. Where can I get said paint from?

More than likely going to do the Esseesse badge the same colour (assuming I can find the right colour), what's the best way to remove & re-attach the badge without causing any damage to the paintwork?

Any ideas/help would be much appreciated, cheers folks! :thumb:

Someone else might be able to help with the paint colour. A hair dryer will get the badge off and a product called sikaflex will stick it back on.

I was sure the black colour was different on the spoiler but I've carbon wrapped mine up now so can't check but something in my mind says the spoiler was a gloss black.

I'd say have a close look at your spoiler and if it does not have a metalic/glittery effect to the paint it is not the same.

But with getting badges off like everyone wil say use a hair dryer until the glue goes soft might leave a bit of glue left on the car but if the badges are going back on it shouldn't be a problem.

AGP scorpian black, custom quad exhaust, carbon fibre wrapped bonnet, spoiler and centre console, forge intercooler, induction kit, boost hoses,TMC tuned, eibach sportlines.

@3k5k. Sikaflex, noted! :thumb:

@Azbo. Was planning on putting the badge back on in a different spot, but hopefully I've got some glue/tar remover lurking in the shed somewhere!

@Lloyd. Had a feeling they weren't the same colour. Any clue on a Fiat paint code which will match it? I saw that TMC stocked some black mirror caps a while back, but they don't stock them any more. :thumbd:

Just thinking it may be cheaper to buy a new SS badge than try and stick your existing one back on with sikaflex.
The new badge will have new adhesive on the back.

Buy the mirror caps from your dealers parts department or look on eBay  :thumb:

I'm sure on my black agp the spoiler was the same colour as the car.

:thumb: They are about £9 from your local dealer.

Trying to take the original badge of will probably destroy it - mine was damaged by Lipscomb Abarth when they had it last, it's never been the same since!

Couldn't find a black set on ebay. Might see what prices the dealers are after, or even better, if they know the paint code for the mirrors/spoiler!

Not the best picture, but it does appear as if the spoiler/paintwork are the same colour... click. At least on the black model. The spoiler wouldn't be a different colour on different paint finishes, surely? :-\

New SS badge sounds like a plan as well guys, cheers

On a side note, would the warranty cover things like this? As my stripes are currently peeling a bit and one of my mirror caps doesn't even fit flush to the mirror? Might be worth a try!
