How much further do you want to go?
It runs out of puff before you get to 6500 rpm so you should be changing gear.

Hehe, for me, thats good news...why the sad face?

I never ever touched 6K RPM with mine simply because there was no need to. And there never will be unless you mount a bigger turbo.

Your right it does run out of puff well before 6500 rpm but i would have thought it would have gone into the red, at leat 7000rpm, as much as i love the car i think its underpowered  Cry

It's because your turbo is coming in fast at 2,000 revs or so. If you turn off sport boost (DON'T  Grin) you will push the car much higher in the rev range to use the turbo.

Just change gear when you feel you have to and the turbo will be working it's ass off straight away anyway Thumb Up

when you change up its important to be at  the right place in the rev range in the new gear, ideally hit the new gear at maximum or near maximum torque, not power, no need to go to the red line in every gear

had a quick look at the spec for an ss. max power is at 5750 rpm so nothing to be gained going beyond that in intermediate gears, max torque is at  2750 so as long as you dont drop below that after the up change it should keep pulling, will have a close look tomorrow

this principle has been in my head for years so if i,m barking up the wrong tree here someone please put me right

Surely you should go beyond maximum power for as long as changing up brings you into a lower power range.  Maybe longer if you take gearing into account...

All I know is that power=torque x revs.
