after reading this i asked my head tech who is also my abarth man :D to look into it for me yes a fix has been released but only for the alt belt not the timing belt problem the drain pipe is to to stop the alternator freezin up and the alt belt being affected but not the timing belt as this is a cased unit and the fix has only been released for the standard punto and evo nothing is mentioned for the abarth but us abarth lovers help as often as we can

i hope this clears it up

danielle

Well As an abarth dealer, No its does not really clear it up, if other abarth dealers are replacing the drive belt and Drain pipe on the Abarth!,

why does your dealership know nothing about it? and i dont mean to be cheeky but why does it take a forum with problems before you look into it,

Do you get updates from abarth?,

Do you send off queries to abarth for more info on problems?

I take it no one has reported a fault like this to your dealership before? ,

Surely your product knowledge cant be very good if you have to find out from a forum?

Quote
Yes a fix has been released by Abarth tell your dealer to dig a bit harder or contact another dealer.

despite the name of this thread has anyone said its the timing(cam)belt and not the alternator belt.

my alternator belt has squeeked but isn,t doing it anymore

timing belt failure is far more serious but has anyone really got this problem?

one customer only has reported in and i have been lookin into it from then i Have mentioned it several times to my DET an Head technician who has infomred me that no fix has been released for the timing belt as i have mentioned the fix is for the ALT belt

so yes my product knowledge is up to date and as i mentioned before the fix is regarding the alt belt and since that customer mentined it have been speakin with another dealer to see if they had any problems and we have been investigation it together

Despite what the title reads i am refering to the drive belt as previously mentioned, so what your saying that there is a fix for this but not for the abarth??

So despite another member having his replaced at an abarth dealer , abarth still know nothing about it and he is a liar??

Guys im not very mechanically minded, when you say the alt belt, is that the one in the picture that ive attached?

This is what is making all the noise in my car. When i set off and have the car on biting point its start chirruping/squeaking its extremely irritating. I drive about 8 miles to work and sit in traffic for about 10 mins so i think that the car gets up to temp, but when im driving I can hear the belt going around, it seems abit noisy to me, but mabye im just listening out for it. When i back into a parking space, the chirruping starts up again, seems to do this when im at low revs.

The car has been into SG Petch, and i had asked them to have a look at it and they say all is ok, but im not so sure, surely the car should not be making this much noise?

Ill try and get a phone with video and sound on it to record it, I have a bloody iphone and it does not have this! ha

Im not trying to hijack the thread, it just seems its related.
