Unidentified dashboard display
« on: July 22, 2009, 09:19:17 PM »
Was driving down the M5 last weekend on route to a short break in Dorset when I noticed an amber display symbol on the dash which looked like a wheel with bits of grit being flung out from beneath it ! All systems seemed to be functioning normally but I stopped on the hard shoulder and checked all the wheels in case this was some kind of indication of a flat tyre. All looked OK but the wife noticed a large piece of grit in the front left tyre which she removed. On restarting the car the display had disappeared and we had 4 more days of uneventful motoring. Have checked the handbook but cannot find any reference to this symbol. Any ideas what it means ?

Thanks to the advice given here I pressed the " ASR off " button and sure enough the little skidding wheel symbol appeared together with the message " ASR DISCONNECTED ". Problem is that the message disappears after about 5 seconds so you're only left with the wheel symbol to puzzle over. Would have been good if the symbol could have been shown in the handbook but it isn't. I'm just relieved that it wasn't anything more serious.

Although the light doesn't appear to be explained in the manual, the explination of the system can be found on page 81 & 82 :thumb:
