Wont Start
« on: December 01, 2011, 08:12:24 PM »
Hi as driving today loads of warning lights came on and lost the speedo so no idea how fast I was going then a few miles down the road the car cut out and was turning over but would not start. Called AA out could not find fault checked spark plugs, fuel and fuses no luck had to have it towed to garage in shock as always looked after it and only done 30k and two years old. The battery is fine before anyone asks. Any one got any ideas?

Symptoms sound like a snapped cam belt but that would be a worst case senario.

AA would have known if the cam belt had snapped and turning it over with it snapped you would know.... Could be anything, Garage will know best.

Just cured the same symptoms on mrs shadyracer's alfa gtv.
Crank position sensor was to blame, needed a diagnostics scan to erm, diagnose it. :)

Found fault two wired touching under handbrake the previous owner had removed interscope system and fitted own system and did not bother to remove wires so cut them not happy but at least its ok now will cost £100 so not too bad as sold it any way.
