Hello Everybody
« on: February 01, 2012, 03:34:04 AM »
Hi Everyone,

been browsing this forum for a long time but finally joined last week when I was visiting the UK.

I have a non esseesse 2008 Abarth 500 which I am very fond of with the following mods:

-compomotive 16" rims with Yokohama A048 LTS Tyres
-Bilstein Suspension Package (springs and Shocks, height adjustable)
-Quaife LSD
-Scorpion 200 cellSports Cat
-Scorpion Mid to Rear Exhaust system (too quiet!)
-Forge BOV
-Forge Actuator
-GTT Induction kit with Silicon hose
-TMC Box (best mod on the car)
-Sabelts in Fabric (bought second hand)
-Lester Boot Duck Tail
-Carbon Fiber Fog Lamp Surrounds

will be putting on:

-lester 10 mm arches
-lester side skirt lip
-Asseto Corse Front Splitter

Thanks to Daron of TMC for supplying and shipping out most of my parts! Great to be here and meet you all!

Thanks

Welcome

Did you find an improvement by adding the actuator with the TMC box?

bit less lag and boost holds better on full throttle after the actuator went in, but apparently its still adjustable for more boost but this was advised against to prevent the engine going into limp mode.

Out of interest I read your running both the TMC tuning box and the Forge BOV, i was advised as the Forge BOV used a solinoide which pluged into the same plug that the TMC would use you couldnt run both.

Be really interested to hear how your running both :thumb:

How does the Bilstein set-up compare to the normal suspension? What are the pros and cons?

car sits much lower, but the bilstien coilover setup makes the ride even harsher than it already was with a normal setup, I went for a 16" rim and thicker tyre to try to compensate but its still as harsh as  :-X

on the plus side the thing corners much better on the bilstien setups, i am told there are two coilover packages from them, one is adjustable for damper firmness too, if you are thinking of it that may be worth the extra money.

There is a local car with a KW fully adjustable setup over here and it has a much nicer ride and handles on par, so does the 695 I tried on FSDs  and lowered springs, both options would probably be more forgiving unless the car is used solely on motorways or track.

You are right the BOV comes with a solenoid plug thing, I think my TMC is newer? so that particular plug was not used? I will check when I get back, my mechanic did the installation so I will get some pics of the part as installed later.

ordered from compomotive directly via their website, but spec'ed them at 16" ET34 at 7J (i thought because the OEM petals were 17" ET34 and 7J also, turns out on 16"s with tyres it rubs against the inner plastic fender guard slightly on full lock when the car was on a gradient. My Mechanic saids its not a problem as the tyres should not be effected that badly and the plastic guard piece will most likely degrade due to the friction over time and no longer brush on full lock.

also 16" is much harder to find good racing compund tyres, only the Toyos (r1r and 888r) and Lotus front sized Yokohamas A048 are 195/50/16 which just about fits now.

lesson to be learnt is that should have just stayed with 17"s and not bothered with downsizing!
